UPDATED: SEP 17, 2014 Tap: Not sure how I feel about peanut butter beers, but I love peanut butter, so why not? Deep brown and black color with a thin, khaki head. Liquid Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup in a glass. Sweet chocolate, peanut butter, faintly roasted malts. Well integrated chocolate malt flavors with the strong but subtle peanut butter nuttiness. Hops add a very small amount of bittersweet florals in the finish. Creamy body, soft carbonation. Very nice ale that avoids being gimmicky by tasting good.

12 oz bottle. Soda-like head dissipating extremely quickly, leaving a murky deep cola-like brown beverage, but with lots of small oily-looking specks in it. Aroma is peanut butter and chocolate as expected. Flavor, the peanut butter and chocolate are there again, some cocoa bitterness. There's just something a little off with it, though, it doesn't all mesh. It's okay, though.

12oz bottle from Discount in Waukesha. Brown pour, tan head. Aroma has peanut butter, in a Reese's kind of way. Taste is better, cleaner. Peanut butter, some nutty toasted malt. Medium bodied. Blend solid. Finishes sweetly. Hits the expected spots, but sweet and not as deep as one would hope. 13.4

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 11/8/2017. Pours very hazy opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger foamy and fluffy khaki head with decent retention, that reduces to nothing eventually. Minimal lacing on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Good appearance. Aromas of big peanut butter, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, fudge, caramel, brown sugar, and toasted dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of coffee, vanilla, smoke, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of peanut butter, chocolate, and dark/roast/bready malt notes; with big strength. Taste of huge peanut butter, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, fudge, caramel, brown sugar, and toasted dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of coffee, vanilla, smoke, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Mild herbal hop and roast/char bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of peanut butter, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, fudge, caramel, brown sugar, toasted dark/brown bread, light coffee/smoke, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of peanut butter, chocolate, and dark/roast/bready malt flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet balance, and zero cloying/acrid flavors after the finish. Slightly increasing dryness from hop/roast bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, and lightly silky/slick/sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 7%. Overall this is an outstanding flavored American stout! All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of peanut butter, chocolate, and dark/roast/bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mildly bitter/drying finish. Impressively rich for 7%; with tons of real PB and Chocolate flavors, on top of a nice well rounded American stout malt bill. A highly enjoyable offering.

tap. Near black with minimal head. Roasty chocolate malt base. Slightly on the thin side. Mild peanuts in there, but I’m not sure I’d notice it if I wasn’t trying to taste it.

ColovianTrader (464) - - DEC 17, 2014
Flavors of toasted bread, peanut butter, chocolate, dark fruit and light coffee notes. Medium bodied and easy drinking.
