Rich deep dark brown coloured body with a thin light brown head that fades very quickly. Aroma of smoke, anise, licorice, roasted malt, earth, caramel and a bit of peat. Medium-bodied; Assertive toffee and smokey flavour with some soy sauce and a bit of roasted malt with chocolate sweetness on the end. Aftertaste shows the sweetness up front with a mild and subdued chocolate and roasted malt note along with the soy sauce and funky flavours and a lot of anise and licorice are still the strongest flavours here. Overall, a decent Imperial Stout with a little funky flavours and some subdued sweetness, but the anise is a bit too strong and the soy sauce hits too hard still, with a light-ish body for the style and not enough complexity around. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 25-July-2015 for US$2,59 sampled at home in Upstate New York on 08-April-2017. kermis (14469) - The Hague / Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - AUG 25, 2015
Bottle shared thanks to RandomstrangerNL. Pours near black with a light brown head. Aroma of malts, caramel, toffee, some light oxidation, licorice and overripe dark fruits. Flavour is over moderate sweet and moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. MrHangover (4693) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - AUG 25, 2015
Bottle as RailSoda, courtesy of RandomStranger. Pours a pitch black beer with a big beige head on top. Aroma has light molasses, some roast, chocolate. Flavour has some oxidation in there, light sweet, loads of chocolate and a light tart finish. Probably a bit old and oxidised, light cardboard and malty. Great aroma, lesser taste. Bottle. Pours black. Aroma and taste are chocolate, roasted malts, and coffee. b3shine (9072) - Indiana, USA - MAY 8, 2015
Bottle to snifter. Looks good; a mostly opaque very dark (almost black) cola with deep beige head. Smells of dark malt, bitter chocolate, and roast. Tastes like it smells with a fairly bitter medium to medium full-bodied mouthfeel. A little unbalanced, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Bottle - Big, black body with a thin tan head. Nose is dark roast, a bit of ash, some weird fruitiness, and a bit of baking spice. Taste is roasty with some charcoal, a bit of dark chocolate, and some booziness that’s oddly sweet. Slick, with a medium body and smooth carbonation. Just an odd beer with some flavors I don’t normally associate with imperial stouts. Tmoney99 (14838) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 8, 2015
Bottle. Poured a black color with an average frothy tan head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted coffee, chocolate and alcohol aroma. Medium to heavy toasted chocolate malt flavor with a medium to heavy dark sweet and small alcohol bite finish of moderate to long duration. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a standout beer. Fritz123 (1535) - Boca Raton, Florida, USA - APR 4, 2015
Bottle from a trade. Poured into a snifter at home. Deep brown, nearly black with a mocha head. The aroma is dark fruits, rootbeer, cocoa nibs, vanilla, graham crackers. The taste was chocolate, nibs, slight coffee, vanilla, graham cracker, and prunes. Thin mouth, medium to lighter body for the style. Slight bitter finish. Very good. alexsdad06 (10638) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - APR 2, 2015
12 oz. bottle from Tmoney99. Pours a dark cola brown color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malts, dark chocolate, dark fruits, thinner body for an imperial stout, just a splash of coffee, some caramel, moderate roasty bitterness to the finish, good flavor. 12oz bottle, big thanks to tmoney99 for sharing. Black color. Little, kind of bubbly brown head. Bigger body. Kind of chewy. Light carbonation. Nice mild dry finish. Great roast malt, dark chocolate, mild smoke, some coffee. Awesome imperial stout flavor. Spunky, indeed. Touch of dark fruit. Moderate to bigger bitter taste. Light to moderate sweet. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of crisp lighter carbonation, very nice big chewiness to the texture, almost creamy. Mild dry finish. Great, satisfyingly hearty imperial stout.
