1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Overall appearance is nice. Clear light gold. Head lingers for a minute taste is butter and caramel with a very small hop profile. Diacetyl is very noticeable which is a shame as this would be a great crisp beer otherwise.
Bottle. A golden color with a white head. A funky Belgian farmhouse aroma with like citrus. Slightly sour on the palate with earthy, herbal finish. notalush (5878) - Denver, Colorado, USA - AUG 21, 2015
Bomber - marked as 7.2% abv - nose is initially sweet, with the dextrose addition fairly apparent, but then herbal hops, citrus, lemongrass, and pepper enter the equation, along with faint brett muskiness - somewhat creamy texture - low carbonation - as in the nose, the dextrose seems to add an unwelcome and intrusive sort of sweetness to it - other than that, though, there are some nice herbal and citric hop notes, tropical brett character, pepper - moderate to high bitterness on the tail end - it’s decent. Pours yellow with a lasting head. Has a nice aroma of hops, cloves and banana. Similar taste that’s pretty nice, not too much brett flavor. Tide (3904) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JUL 16, 2014
Draught at Odd13. Golden color, white head. Bitter taste with citrus, hops, spices, earthy notes and grass. Bitter finish with citrus, hops and earthy notes. Very nice saison. Ernest (7698) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAY 26, 2014
Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing.
Body is medium yellow.
Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (grapefruit, resin), with notes of lemon zest, gum, pepper, alcohol.
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic.
Definitely deserves credit for being equal parts Belgian and American...there’s definitely a punch of green/resinous hops in the nose but a lot of Belgian gum/lemon/pepper odors from the yeast as well. Needs to be sharper in the finish, though, as the slightly saccharine sugars linger a bit too long for my liking...rather watery too. A pretty good effort overall.
