Cask gravity at Merton Beer Festival Friday and Saturday 27th & 28th February 2015 Pale silver gold, hazy Hoegaarden appearance with a large busy white frothy head, crikey this is a lively beer. The aroma is fresh, hops showing, citrussy, mainly a sweet orange waft. Taste is more of the same, zaps the tongue a little with citrus, notably sweet orange again but then a little more tangy. I guess I can pick up the yeastiness a tad, it all combines to make a very pleasant beer. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.6 tdtm82 (1701) - Essex, ENGLAND - JAN 1, 2015
I’ve had this at home now and at the brewery before. I don’t normally go for wit beers but this is something I’d like to see more of. The typical coriander and clove notes from wit beer balance well with the grapefruit and lychee bites from the hops. This is perhaps one of the few wit beers I would happily session. A little hazy but in a good way. Subtle and not smacking my face with hops. Moncada have come a long way in a short time and this is proof of that. Great and interesting beer. Bottled, 500ml from Oddbins in Oxford. Clouded gold with white head. This was a pleasant, fruity beer, there is a wheaty element, estery banana and pear drops, then a citrusy hop, pithy bitterness. It’s well balanced and pretty tasty.
