Aroma of toasted, almost smoked, malt with chocolate notes. Coffee? Maybe. Near opaque dark brown color with some white/beige head that sort of laces. Full body with creamy carbonation. It’s smoky. There’s coffee, and chocolate, and something like not too sweet dark fruit. The finish is relatively dry, and the toast and hop bitter really pluck at the mouth bpr77 (264) - Kansas City, Missouri, USA - APR 26, 2013
Aroma is chocolate, cherry, oak, and booze. Taste is chocolate, berries, bready yeast notes, and raisins berrya785 (441) - Kansas, USA - APR 26, 2013
750 mL bottle poured into a snifter. Pours a nearly opaque brown/black with red highlights and a big brown head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is musty with roasted malts and grapes. Taste is caramel, coffee, and grapes with a dry wine like finish. TheGooch510 (7) - Colorado, USA - APR 14, 2013 does not count
Full bodied flavor, with a definitely barley "wine" style flavor. Not worth $16 for a bomber in my opinion, but a good beer nontheless

This is a very nice porter. Smooth, rich, and dark. A dense mouthfeel with the grape and wine barrel flavors adding a splendid subtle touch of tartness. Picked this up at the cork and barrel in Lawrence.

Dark, with small beige head. Good lacing. Fairly Nuetral aroma, but complex taste. Sweet, toffee, well balanced and easy to drink.. Steve_0 (3818) - Denver, Colorado, USA - APR 5, 2013
On tap at Luck Pie Lodo. Pour is deep brown with a small tan head and great lacing. Toffee, raisins, dark fruits, light cocoa, bread, a touch of vanilla, and brown sugar in the aroma. Taste is roasty, yet tart, somewhat fruity, red grapes, coffee, and malty with a medium roasty finish. Mouthfeel is medium with medium carbonation. Kind-of a weird brew but not in a bad way. I think I prefer Ska’s Vinifera over this one. chrisv10 (18518) - DENMARK - MAR 28, 2013
Bottle @ Papsoe tasting. Very dark brown with small beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and liquorice. Flavour is roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, little vegetable, medium sweet, hop, little liquorice and a little bitter. Concealer (1269) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAR 27, 2013
A burgundy brown pour with a caramel head. Smells almost like a port wine. Grapes, spice and malt with a little oak in the nose. Tastes of sweet malt and chocolate/toffee, oak, grape, and spice. notalush (5922) - Lakewood, Colorado, USA - MAR 26, 2013
Tap at Odell - clear dark ruby pour - nose is pretty much all imperial porter - caramelized sugars, chocolate - can’t really detect the barrel - if I didn’t know, I would not guess - body is definitely thin for something of this strength - approach is all chocolate and burnt sugars - middle has a slight hint of grape juice - finish is light roast and char, along with a hint of tartness - again, hard to detect the barrel/wine - seriously disappointing, but not necessarily bad - glad I didn’t spend 14 bucks on a bottle.
