2010 bottle. Brown pour with a big, juicy head on it. The beer has a great nose on it, some roasted malt and some fruit. Taste was really nice, just a twinge sour with the peach coming through. Aroma is weird and intergrated but intriguing, peaches, funk, and roasty chocolate. Looks great, thick creamy one finger head, dark brown with some tingles of reddish orange. Light brown head. Taste is initially weird, never had abeer like this. Taste is very intergrated light a peach chocolate. Peach comes t brought with, chocolately roaste with a really great tartness that seems to balance it all. Texture is thin but kind of creamy. This one sounded interesting and the problem with it is that the reason it sounds interesting is because nobody else has done a peach porter and theres a reason for it. Weird chocolatey sweet peaches with an off sourness and some disjointed roastyness.

Opaque black beer, good bubbly tan head. Light airy palate, semi dry. Moderate dark malt base with a whisper of roast and slightly tangy - sour. Tiny bit of wood and then sweet vibrant fresh and natural tasting peach. Dry finish. Interesting, tasty and very drinkable. Nice one Odell.

How: Bottle 750ml corked & caged. Not too sure about the age (1 year?), a bottle probably sent to me by either tyler_mn or oakbluff, these two dudes both suck major ass anyway so who cares.
The look: Black body topped by a small tan head.
In long: Nose is strange, there is some blackened malts and roasty notes but also a weird fruity and kind of barnyard component to the aroma. I don’t think I would nailed it to peaches without reading the name and description, but there is definitely a strong fruity component to the aroma, all types of light color fruits. Strange aroma that is not very inviting. Taste is more of the same, blackened smooth chocolaty malts, milky notes, creamy texture, high sweetness sensation and lots of fruit juice that clash with the rest of the beer. Nice full mouthfeel and no alcohol presence whatsoever. Like a peach juice mixed with milk chocolate, apple juice mixed with a stout, etc. Not a bad beer per say, but brewing a porter with peaches is probably a bad idea, I’m not against thinking outside the box, but did you brewers look inside the box lately? There are some pretty good ideas in there.
Beautiful color in the pour. Dark molasses look to it. Long lasting thick beige head. Aroma tart peaches. Not bad for a two year old fruit beer. Tart, round, wild ale funk, peach flavor. June 9th, 2011 - The only other peach flavored beer I’ve had in recent memory is the ubiquitous Lindemann’s Peche Lambic, which by itself is a fine treat and something of a bubbly dessert, but it feels a little less like a beer and more like a champagne. Odell’s Avant Peche is a little more real, and more closely related to that ineffable core quality of beer. For example, instead of overly ripe peach flesh and sugars, the aroma features a light oak and sour bite, contrasted nicely against a puff of dark malts, painting a broader picture of peach AND good pairs for peach. And deep within that dark brown body (colored slightly by a light red blush in the foam), is a strange and eclectic bunch of flavors. Like a ragtag group of protagonists, they come together with no hope of synergy or success, and then save the day and much more. Deep dark sweetness rooted in brown sugar, raisins and a touch of that oaky sourness, with a fruitier sourness hiding behind the oak, but still just visible. This beer is marked with peach flavors, but not obsessed with them. No part of the flavor profile features too brightly or prominently, but blurs elegantly, like studying a painting from across a large room. That delicate balance suggests both careful brewing, but it’s also hard to find a hook to keep dragging me back in for another sip. That blurriness means I’m constantly searching for what exactly makes this beer taste good, but I can’t find it without some flavor to take the lead and speak up for the others.
