The hop has met its match! Barrel Thief is an Imperial IPA that was stolen from the brewhouse and stashed away in medium toast, new American oak barrels. The brew features a notorious tropical fruit hop character that tangles with hints of vanilla, dried fruit, and toasted nut from its time served in the barrel.

Bottle from liquid town. Small whitish head. Hazy orange-amber. Aroma of oak, pine, tropical fruit, and maybe some light toffee and spice. Taste is bitter, fruity, oaky, and boozy. Slightly dry, crisp, and medium bodied. Quite nice.

Wunderbar andersartig. Vollmundig, sehr holzig und äusserst tropical. Abgefahren & komplex. Mit zunehemender Wärme gibt es mit jedem Schluck neues zu entdecken. Daumen hoch. 0,75l Flasche . Mitbringsel von meinem Kumpel Micha ( aus den USA ).

Pours a very cloudy, orangeishj-yellow, with minimal head. Aroma is fruity and woodsy. Flavor is full of licorice, fruit,, hops, and wood. Alcohol content is well-hidden. Might have been better without the oak aging.

Good but too fruity considering its barrel aged IPA. I would try it on draft for sure if you're a beer completist. It's interesting but I don't need to have it again. - pixels sent via Beer Buddy on iOS

It has a nice golden orange color. Pours semi clear with a big fluffy dirty white head that laces the glass. Splendid aroma of oranges, tropical fruits, vanilla and a trace of pine. Similar flavor profile. Flavors open with citrus notes, sweet floral nectar, woody vanilla, pine resin and traces of tropical fruit.

750 ml. corked and caged bottle. Pours a thick, well retained, off white head, with extensive lacing, over a slightly hazy gold (SRM 5) body.....nose is tropical fruits, with tangerine, orange peel, light pine, all from the hops, light sweet notes from the malts, balance to the hops.....taste is floral honey sweet, with slight caramel notes, light cereal notes, all from the malts, heavy fruits, including mango, orange, tangerine, pineapple, then light pine, all from the hops, mild wood with slight vanilla from the barrel, finishing with moderate hop bitterness, balance to the hops....mouth feel, medium body, moderate alcohol warmth, mild acid from carbonation. The tropical aromas and flavors from the hops are quite dominant and with the barrel notes the beer ends up a bit too muddled. Perhaps a change in hops would make for a more enjoyable beverage. Pours light amber with a frothy off-white head. Instantly identifiable but seemingly mild in the aroma. Nice mellow wood and a hint of booze in the aroma and flavors. A subtle Dipa. Lovely.

Wow, I am happy I didn’t make a special trip out for this, very mundane beer .. Smell is of mild scrap wood and almost a bit of funk .. Woodys aannd a bit astringent .. Abv and aftertaste are good but nothing else is .. . Call me googly eyes again and I’m gonna punch you in the ear again!

Strong aromas and flavors of hops, oak, fruit, vanilla and spice. Good caramel color with a weighty and smooth palate. Blended well.

ElCapitan22 (363) - Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 8, 2015
Pours an amber color with some lacing and excellent head retention. Has an aroma of spice, coriander and hops. Has a hint of banana taste and a good bit of hops, while finishing with a nice oaky bite. Doesn’t give the imperial ipa taste, but I do like it.
