Bottle from The Ale House, Chelmsford. Almost black, minimal head. Hint of chocolate and coffee is there, quite enjoyable but just a little bland.
Pours deep brown from the bottle with a light tan, foamy head. The aroma has strong roasted notes, smoke, caramel, and a light touch of dark chocolate. Taste is sweet to bittersweet, with a modest uptick in bitterness and roasted flavor at the finish. Body is not exactly light, but stays to the lighter side of medium. Pretty good. Nitro tap. Pours a deep brown with a hint of ruby around the edge. Has a thick creamy head and ample lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee bit of chocolate and nuts. Taste is similar with roasted malt, bit of coffee, chocolate and caramel sweetness. Nice bitterness and a dry finish. Medium body, smooth and creamy with a nice malty flare. Enjoyable beer that goes down quite easy. Andrew196 (1922) - Katy, Texas, USA - DEC 9, 2016
Bottle to shaker - Pours black, slightly brown edges with a beige head, kinda thin. Aroma is heavy on the coffee grounds, some smoke. Thin in the tongue, more coffee and dark roasted malts, traces of cocoa. Decent but pretty simple to me...pretty robust for 5%. Ronritter (780) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - DEC 9, 2016
