January 1st, 2015 - Also bringing in the New Year is this lovingly aged bottle of O’Dell’s Deconstruction Ale. Aged in Wine Barrels, I can practically smell the vinegar top notes as I unearth it from my treasure trove. The beer fills the goblet beautifully, hanging like a heavy, yeast-laden globe with an off-white head forming an arced crown above the brew, and giving off powerful acidic and herbaceous smells, but primarily defined by the facto-nature of the ingredients. Sweet and tart intermingle in the flavor, letting those acidic high notes carry onward, while deeper flavors of graham sweetness and herbaceousness provides some needed support. Tasty, aged, and well blended, this is a beer worth the holiday. wedgie9 (2702) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - JAN 22, 2016
Tasted on 1//21/16 from a corked and caged bottle, big thanks to Savages for saving this one for me. Pours hazy burnt orange with a very thick off-white head that slowly recedes to thick lace. The nose is quite malty, showing some age, tons of vinous fruit, lots of oak, with funky, herbal spice. The flavor is even oakier than on the nose, plenty of vinous fruit and herbal spices, with the malts not as strong as on the nose. The body is full with very lively carbonation, and a long fruity, herbal, and oaky finish. joergen (28770) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JAN 2, 2016
