A Golden Ale created by blending the final recipe with its own barrel aged pilot beers fermented with wild yeasts and lacto. Each individual barrel contributes a unique flavor from the wood chosen and the cultures resident to achieve the subtle complexities that develop(ed) over time. A beer which starts sweet, filling the mouth with fruit-like esters and mild spiciness, changing to a tart and lingering flavor reminiscent of apples and grapefruit living amidst an earthy, citrusy hop aroma. 42% aged in wine barrels 58% Ale

Nice sour with some interesting influences. Slightly sour aroma with fruit (apples) touches. Golden in color with some bubbles up the glass and a white foamy head. Puckering mouthfeel with carbonation and some dryness. Palate cleansing flavors from the sourness with fruit and wine. Some grainy spices in the blend as well. There was a lot going on. I couldnt say it stood out drastically from other good sours though.

There is so much going on in this beer! The flavor profile is extremely complex. There is apple, grapefruit, a hint of a Rose wine, some barrel is slightly in the taste. There is a earthiness to it as well, some sourness from the lacto. Overall wonderful beer. Wish I had another to enjoy later. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750 ml bought in Wyoming. Pours a cloudy deep orange color with a large white head. A sweet nose of brett, sugars and fruit. The flavor is certainly at the core a big blonde ale, dusty Brett., apples, caramel, light vinous notes. Decent.

On tap at the Mayor. Orange red appearance with an off white head. Aroma of fruity esters, wood, alcohol, wild yeast and light spices. Similar flavor. Medium body with a smooth feel. Not bad but a little underwhelming.

Thanks, Jeff! Not quite up to the level of the 2011 version. Oily, vigorously carbonated pour with a mead-like color to it. Raucous head and a riot of things happening in the nose, hops slightly occluded by barrel and booze and loads of fruit. Mouthfeel is a bit slick and oily for sure, and the heat is a bit too detectable. Flavors are reasonably more complex than the nose promises, with the hops peeking out a bit and some nice tart notes to make an interesting topography beyond the wood and heat. Bretts not very present at all, but still comes across as a pretty winning Belgian strong.
