COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Golden Ale created by blending the final recipe with its own barrel aged pilot beers fermented with wild yeasts and lacto. Each individual barrel contributes a unique flavor from the wood chosen and the cultures resident to achieve the subtle complexities that develop(ed) over time. A beer which starts sweet, filling the mouth with fruit-like esters and mild spiciness, changing to a tart and lingering flavor reminiscent of apples and grapefruit living amidst an earthy, citrusy hop aroma. 42% aged in wine barrels 58% Ale

TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - APR 29, 2013
750 ml bottle shared at the Flossmoor Pre-Dark Lord Day event (Flossmoor, IL). Pours a deeper orange amber hue, well hazed, good orange glow throughout. A frothy whitish head atop dies to a film and laces ok. Aromas are pears and apples, sour slant with some lactic acidity, yogurt, and lemons. Gentle oak, straw, and graininess. More lacto hits the nostrils, some gentle crab apple, bready malts, and melon. Initial is lighter end of the fold, more dry and fizzy brett up front hits the palate, grass and hay, some funky horseblanket. Some bigger yogurt influence, lactic acidity is soft and yogurty. Some crab apple, sour pear and some banana. Yogurt, brett, and some dryness. A bit fizzy and dry, brett influence. Some gentle oak, sweeter tart fruit and good lactic element but brett dominates the palate for me. A bit sweet and cumbersome for me, a touch thick and not light and vibrant like I prefer.

Slutfest! I appreciated the extra notes given to me on this one. :) Medium gold. Slight sour aroma. Flavor is some funk, balanced pils malts. Pleasant.

Okay beer....not much sour flavor...more of a bitter taste. Decent color...can taste some orange peel with the bitter taste.

Slutfest 2013: Sharp cheddar, whole lemon aroma. Cloudy amber, huge peach colored sticky head. Whole overripe lemon, DMS. Medium body. Not great.

750 mL bottle shared at Slutfest 4. Pours a murky orange color with a large foamy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of stone fruits, butter, pale malts, wood, earthy hops, honey. The taste is strawberries, stone fruits, honey, earth, nuts, herbal malts. Medium bodied, excellent balance, slight tartness.

Apple, citrus fruit, light ginger, and fresh grassy hops. Hazy orange with a fully lasting, pillowy, white head. Dry, tart, funky, fruity, and yeasty. Light-medium body, fluffy carbonation, and with a fruity and earthy finish.

dreadnord (1012) - San Diego, California, USA - APR 5, 2013
Pours golden orange with a thick white head. The nose is Brett earthy soil, lemon, leather and apples. The taste is high sweet and low bitter with only a hint of tart. This needs more time. The texture is like pop rocks. Way overcarbonated. The body is light and finish is long. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Ripe banana and other fruit nose. Sweet and sour palate. Lush fruit finish that’s long lasting. Nice

Fruity and thick takes some getting used to and stays on your tongue for a while. Definitely one and done per sitting but well worth it

Top blows off the top when u remove the metal top, golden colour with a little bit of haze, aroma is sharp grass, wood decomposing undergrowth. Taste is really wild yeast, classic Belgium spice, over ripe banana. Touch of sweet oak on the end, scary but nice
