COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As the Colorado hop growers prove they can produce world class hops, we as a Colorado craft brewer want to showcase what our state can offer, not only with the ingredients used in crafting them. Mountain Standard Double Black IPA showcases the homegrown hops our brewers helped pick from farms along Colorados western slope. MST pours committingly dark with a light brown head and a slightly roasted hoppy nose. An ephemeral bitterness, the result of combining roasted malts with an assertive American hop profile, contributes to MSTs act of balance and harmony within nature or your glass. As the seasons darkness sets in why shouldnt your beer become darker as well?

From a 12 oz bottle into a frosty glass. Thin white head that leaves behind nice lacing. The beer itself is a dark brown with aromas of fruity, caramel malts and citrus hops. Sips very smooth with nice sugary malt character and a hop bitterness on the back end. Reminds me of a roastier Myrcenary, go figure. Overall this is a very nice Black IPA. Ranks second in my book only to thw Wookey Jack.

On tap. Pours a black color with a nice head and some lacing. Aroma of dark fruit, bit of malt sweetness and pine in the background. Taste of roasted malt, a subtle sweetness with a bit of dark fruit and hint of chocolate. Nice bitterness and a dry finish. Medium body, Nice blend of hops and malt that make this a tasty treat.

I loved this black IPA. It was cocoa roasty and had a bitter hoppiness. I enjoyed this beer paired with chocolate cheese. The sweet with the bitter contrast really worked spectacularly.

Really drinkable and well balanced BIPA. Quite subdued compared to a lot of offerings, moderate in hoppiness, roastiness and bitterness. Really very good.

Bottle at Leightons thanks to Dirty D. It pours darkest brown - black with a small beige head. The aroma is soft, pine needles, caramel, banana bread, stewed orange, peach and apricot. The taste is bitter, rich roast, umami, liquorice, charred wood ,cocoa, spice, raw alcohol, treacle and peach. Medium body and moderate , foamy carbonation. Nice elements to it, but it is a bit chewy and alcoholic. Not bad overall.

Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. Extremely dark brown, hazy in colour with pine, tropical fruit, orange marmalade and chocolate flavours with liquorice and more spicy chocolate, red fruit and sarsaparilla on the smooth, vanilla and oak finish. Excellent!
