Named for Myrcene, a component of essential oils in the hop flower, Myrcenary Double IPA is our tribute to those who revere the illustrious hop, and their unyielding exploit to craft hop forward beers. Brewed with a blend of hops containing the highest levels of Myrcene, this double IPA prevails with a tropical fruit-like flavor, a pungent floral aroma, and a clean getaway.

Floral and balanced. Enough malt to suggest that this is certainly a big beer with a high alcohol content. This is a winner and a great value.

Poured into a snifter. Big thanks to RuckusDu for this one. 3.5 A: Lightly hazed yellow orange color. Just one finger of creamy white head. Retention is about average and a small ring of lacing is left. 4.5 S: The hop aroma is huge and comes in a combination of floral, pine, citrus, dank herbal, and cat piss. Mango and papaya are the leading fruits. Malts are decidedly bready with perhaps a touch of yeast. 4.0 T: Hops are again the focus. Lots of citrus with mango, papaya, orange, and some pineapple. Beneath that there is pine, grapefruit, and dank cat piss. Again the malts are bready and a mild yeastiness persists. Mild bitterness that lingers somewhat into the aftertaste. 4.5 M: Heavier medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Really nice creaminess to this and smooth. 4.0 D: Really good beer. Jam packed with flavor. The only thing Im not a fan of is the breadiness. I dont care for that flavor in DIPAs, but this is so good that I have no trouble looking past that. A big "Thank You" goes out to ODell Brewing Co. for giving us a kick-ass Double IPA available year round. A clean and crisp, hoppy ale that goes down as smooth as this at 9.3% alcohol can certainly get me in trouble.

Bottle. Pours a clean golden orange with minimal foam head. Sweet aromas of pine, light apple notes and citrus tones. Heavy malt and apple juicy flavor dominate the first taste. The heavy up-front pine notes in the palate are quickly overridden by an almost minty bitter floral which I assume is the Myrcene of the name. Pretty decent overall, but Im not sure its a 98 for the style, given all the other great DIPAs out there.

Botle, Rehills, Ncl.*Rating number 800. Beautiful floral aromas - peach, lychee and kiwi are in there, lovely pale gold appearance. Sweetness, with some sugary notes. Soft and smooth on the palate, beautifully balanced, with a lovely bitter tang in the finish, that lingers very well. An excellent DIPA.

Pours a nice amber with a thick head. Aroma of honeyed hops. Nice smooth taste, honey, floral hops and a little malt. Medium bodied with a smooth palate for how hoppy it is. Pretty delicious.

Bottle from Beer Ritz, Leeds. Poured a yellowy orange colour with a small white head. Aroma was as anticipated hop heavy with some grapefruit notes. Decent fruit and hop bitterness in the flavour with some light sweetness. ABV fairly well smothered. Tasty and really quite drinkable, but somehow lacking the real knockout blow that could elevate it to the higher echelons.
