3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Deep ruby brown color with a finger of head and good lacing. Aroma of cherry skin and berries with a tart smell. Tart taste of unripe berries with a tartness that fades into a surprising roasted malt and chocolate flavor. Fizzy mouthfeel with light/medium body and high carbonation. Not too tart with a nice fruit flavor and unexpected chocolate. Interesting style I have never had before.
Bottle. It poured a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma was of caramel, sour dark fruits, wood, sour grains and cherry vinegar. The taste was similar to the aroma with more caramel, dark fruits, wood, sour cherries and a nice mellow aftertaste. Good stuff. Quick3Beers (1257) - East Falmouth, Massachusetts, USA - APR 28, 2017
Pours a rich dark brown with some deep red notes from a bottle. Rich winey aroma, mixed with oak, toffee, a little coffee? Flavor adds a leatheriness almost like Worcestershire sauce but more in quality than actual flavor. Pretty good beer. copestx (227) - Vesterbro, DENMARK - MAR 4, 2017
Bottle in Austin. Pours a nice mohagony with a light head. Well carbonated. Aroma is leather, tobacco, funk and sour cherries. Taste is dark fruit, oak, toffee, red wine/tannins and balsalmico. Quite traditional and not too sweet. Very enjoyable and true to the style. MetalNHopHead (2014) - Lincoln, Nebraska, USA - NOV 30, 2016
As Oud Bruins go, The Meddler is downright pretty. It pours ruby red. The head is fizzy but lasts longer than what you see on a lot of Sours. Earthy/acidic aromatics with barnyard, old oak, aged fruit, and a little malt. Palate is lively with tartness and funkiness. Raspberry, cherry, and apple notes with vinous wood and tannins. Some caramel malt and vinegar-like acidity. This tastes about as close to tradition as you can get. RobertDale (6552) - Lansing, Kansas, USA - NOV 20, 2016
Sample at Strong Ale Fest 2016. Comes reddish brown with a small beige head. Aroma of fruit, malt, and caramel. Taste is tart fruit, malt, caramel, and barrel. Very nice.

Not my favorite style of beer but I can appreciate it for what it is. Pours a deep reddish brown, slightly watered down mouthfeel but strong malt and sour cherry notes. drpimento (3669) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 3, 2016
Aroma is the best part here, with fruit caramel malt vinegar yeast. Appearances average with a small short-lived can head no lace and very dark Garnet. Flavor is a little bit like nose but mainly just sour. Long tart finish. jkwalking05 (4743) - Arlington, Texas, USA - OCT 22, 2016
750 mL bottle. Brown in color with a decent beige head. Aroma is of plum, leather, tobacco, tart, dried cherry. Taste is of dried cherry, tobacco, tart, funky, oak, and vanilla. travita (5006) - Dallas, Texas, USA - OCT 22, 2016
Bottle. The look is is muddy, brownish, tan head. The smell is fruit, oak, ash, lactic, tangy, good. The taste is tangy, fruity, oak, berries, lactic, smooth, and good. jefcon (1878) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - OCT 14, 2016
Great balance of sour funky aged elements and complex yeasty brown malts. A big beer on the palate, with a lot going on: cherries, old stone fruit, raisins, barnyard and heat from the alcohol.
