COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Doug Odells admiration for the British brewing culture has led him across the pond - a lot. In 2008, Doug landed at Thornbridge Brewery and in the company of kindred brewing spirits. This visit led to a collaboration brew at Thornbridge in 2010. Fast forward to 2012 to find the two breweries at it again, this time at Odell Brewing. Pond Hopper Double Extra Pale Ale is the love child of this international brewmance. Brewed with English malts and American hops, Pond Hopper brings together the best ingredients each country has to offer, balancing a subtle sweet malt character with hints of mango and peach hop flavor. It pours a rich golden color with citrus and ripe melon essence in the nose. No matter which side of the pond youre on, heres to good beer and good friends. Cheers.

Pours a golden-orange-copper with good sized head. Aroma of hops and malt. Flavor is very rich combination of citrus-hop flavors and underlying maltiness. Very good double IPA.

750ml from the Rare Beer Club. Very bright, colorful orange pour, almost glowing and fresh looking, bedecked with a fine filmy head. Very enticing, heady floral aroma back by a trace of malt and substantial bitter notes. Full, very smooth mouthfeel with a playful carbonation and a palate thats fairly dry. Terrific, super-fresh, citrusy flavors abound but with a nice bitterness and malt complement that I imagine reflects Thornbridges contributions (?). Regardless of who did what, this is a really fine collab brew.

750ml cork & caged bottle from Wilburs. Pours orange with a white head. Big citrus, apricot and peach hop nose. Med body with more light fruit notes and sweet caramel malts. Rich malt finish with bright citrus notes. The American hops shine through.

750 c&c from Wine & Cheese in Clayton, MO. Pours hazy light orange with a creamy white head. Aroma is floral and fruity. Med + body. Flavor is very light roast malt with a great deal of floral, tropical perfume fruit, and some citrus. Its extremely hoppy, dry and bitter, but not harshly bitter. Still theres a bit of hop burn on tongue edges. Dont think heat is detectable. Bordering on too perfume/ripe fruit, but still good. Very flavorful.

beautifully balanced. suppable loveliness. doesnt taste like a DIPA to me though, its smoother than that. I dont know if its the malt that takes away the IPA intensity of it or what... but this is good stuff.
