Summer 2011 - The Weiss Versa came after the Kolsch in our line up of beers sampled at the brewery proper. It comes with a smooth, white mushroom capped head, a light yellow complexion, and an inviting haziness. The foam acts as a membrane between the aroma and my nose, but I still catch whispered hints of banana and clove, and even a little bit of pumpkin pie spice and ginger root. The flavor is similar. The sharp spiciness of the ginger is a thread connecting the vegetable pumpkin notes to the more hefeweizen like banana and clove notes. Poured a hazy golden color with a big white head. Somewhat tart on the nose, leads to a nice light bodied palate, with a good tartness and flavors of wheat, yeast and a little spice.
