Great saison/farm house ale. Unbelievable from a tap! Fruity and delicious.
Slightly hazy light gold with a foamy and sticky white head. The aroma has a wee bit of earthy floral tones with a lot of juicy tropical notes like melon and passion fruit and a belgianesque bright fruitiness. The flavor is a tad light but has a nice juicy tropical earthy flavor of guava, leafy hops, passion fruit, and lemon zest with a dry Belgian farm grain flavor. Pretty pleasant and delightful. Some time back we had a number of visitors staying with us. For fun, they took turns going out and picking up varieties of beer. I kept notes about what we thought about each, but can not find them anywhere. I did find a bag of empties from that time period, so thought I would at least record those w/o commet and ratings from memory. This is one of those. Pour out of bottle at the brewery, clear golden pour with white head, high carbonation. Aroma brought notes of yeast, spice, some white fruit notes with a hint of peach, pear in there, slight grain, biscuit, bready notes as well. Taste is a mix of biscuit, bread, hints of grain into some nice peach, white grape, some slight spice, yeast in the middle with a touch of grass, finishing fairly earthy, spicy. On tap at brewer, poured a hazy golden hue w/ large fizzy head settling to a thin white cap. Moderate fruity aromas. Initial flavor is light sweet w/ a moderate bitter finish. Tastes are white grapefruit, grass, lemon, faint banana, peach and apricot. Ob draught at Slice Parlor. Pours a dense dark gold with a lasting white head and lace. Spicy, lemongrass aromas. Medium body with effervescent mouthfeel. Tangy character a bit overpowering the mellow maltiness. OKAY.

Tap at Odell - turbid gold - low carbonation - aroma and flavor are heavy on the banana esters, which are kind of a strike for me - however, it is quite nicely dry, with potent but not abrasive peppery phenols and a nice earthy/rustic quality about it, with a nice spicy finish - these qualities make me forgive the banana a little bit, but not entirely - decent American rendition. 12 oz. bottle from the mixed 12 pack. Pours an unclear orange gold color with a soft soapy white head that fades to a thin wispy film. Aroma has nice pepper spice some good citrus and light florals and yeast/biscuit notes. Taste has a soft bitterness along with citrus pepper yeast and floral flavors. A middling saison. Flavor is hay and some citrus. A bit of orange. Dry and underwhelming. Tried at the brewery in Dec, 2013.
