Dark brown pour. Spicy hops, funky yeast, rubbery flavors. At times this has good qualities but in the end the phenols were a bit too much. Steve_0 (3745) - Denver, Colorado, USA - OCT 30, 2012
On tap at the brewery. Pour is deep brown, almost black with a one-finger brown head and decent lacing. Brett, pine needles, light roast, a touch of menthol, and grass in the somewhat funky aroma. Taste is pretty clean for a brett fermented black IPA, with light notes of menthol, medicinal characteristics, pine, dark chocolate and biscuit with a medium bitter finish. Creamy mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Pretty interesting, and reminds me of Crooked Stave’s WWBB, but could definitely use some refining. DesertDevil (699) - Arizona, USA - SEP 29, 2012
On tap at its debut at Papago Brewing Co., which collaborated with Odell on this brew. Pours dark, dark brown with a hazy, thin head. Aroma of slight barnyard funk, rubber and Brett. Taste is quite heavy on the phenols early, with a pleasant funkiness late. Body is lighter than I expected. Drinks more like a Belgian Dark Strong than a black IPA.
