Inukshuks were originally created as directional markers and used as landmarks for travelers on the Arctic Tundra. These stone sculptures can now be found all over North America and today they have become a symbol for hope, friendship and hospitality. We can’t think of a better icon for our North American IPA. O’Dempsey’s Inukshuk IPA combines a bitter hop bite and citrus nose with just enough of a malt backbone to achieve a balancing act for your senses. Enjoy.

Bottle. Pours a clear copper color with a moderate and frothy white head. Nose is rather floral and hoppy. Taste is not too bitter, actually. There is a hint of citrus in there, but the beer is well-balanced.

HoppyAlesToYou (167) - Saint John, Indiana, USA - NOV 26, 2012
Light aroma that reveals some caramel, resin, and citrus. The taste is in line with the aroma, very weak with mild sweetness. Not much carbonation remains after the pour, and the palate is thin. When an ale does not offer much aroma and taste, the balance touted on the label is more easily attained. Tastes like BMC craft poser brand, trying to retain a consumer intrigued by the craft movement.

Looking fine, but has an odd sour/sweet aroma with a bit of must and funk. {No other signs this bottle was bad]. The flavor is better but lacks any semblance of fresh hops and is quite earthy. Medium body ad proper carbonation.

Thomas Creek did a fine job with O’Dempseys Inukshuk. Pours a dark yellow, clear. Nice white head that hangs on. Good Carbonation nice sweet hoppy aroma. Nice hop flavor that is upfront but not too bold. Mouth feel is very nice. Bittering in aftertaste is great. As the picture on the label aludes to, it is definitely a well balanced beer!

Clear copper color with creamy off-white head. Aroma of caramel, orange, and pine. Citrus-orange flavor with caramel sweetness, and just a touch of hops. Rather sweet for an IPA.

Bottle. Pours chill hazy orangy copper with 1-finger off-white head. Nose is resiny hops, caramel malt, with some spruce and tropical fruit. Tastes resiny, piney, hoppy, with mid-palate malt, fruit, tamgerine, and peppery notes. Medium palate heft and complexity level. This one is enjoyable.

maekchu (3730) - Hirakata, JAPAN - AUG 6, 2012
Bottle. Moderate pine hop aroma, a bit funky or something. Gold with 2-cm. rocky head. Fairly balanced initial, mid palate moves toward the malt, and final fades away quickly. Medium body. Overall maybe a bit too sweet, but okay.

rbrazell (1698) - Florida, USA - AUG 4, 2012
Bottle from Sweet Grass Dairy. Very clear copper with almost no head. Nose is only sweet caramel malts, no hint of hops whatsoever. Bland, boring, sweet caramel malt with maybe a slight touch of pine in the end. This is not a IPA.
