Pours a rich smooth burnt umber with a thick three finger khaki foam. The nose is sweet chocolate chip cookies, vanilla and even more chocolate. The palate follows the nose with a touch of boozy vanilla and a creamy full mouthfeel that lingers with charred burnt roasty notes. ar26pt2 (4) - Georgia, USA - MAY 27, 2013 does not count
Full bodied pitch black pour with fine lacy head. Bitter and powerful as RIS should be. Served about 50F in an oversized wine glass brings out the aroma nicely. Very nice indeed.

12 ounce bottle. Pours jet black with a small tight bubbly brown head. Aroma is smoky roasted malt with notes of licorice and dark chocolate. Rich roasted malt flavor has an elegant silky mouth feel. I get hints of charred wood and espresso upfront. The finish is bitter and dry with hints of tobacco and resiny hops. Very well done. rondphoto (4494) - Lakeside Park, Kentucky, USA - MAY 11, 2013
Pours an opaque black-brown with a tan head that drops quickly to a head cover, sheets of lace. Taste is a clean toasted malt with hints of dark chocolate (much more understated than in many heavy stouts - good!), followed by bittersweet hoppiness that moves things in balance through a long finish. Quite tasty, ideal with dessert or sweet cheeses. Highly recommended. BREWMUSKCLES (2743) - New Jersey, USA - MAY 10, 2013
moderate slick and smooth body with some cocoa. hoppy and malty with the imperial type harshness, and the roasted character. deep dark brown with brown head like cocoa.

Very dark appearance. Slight head after pour. Great aroma. Tastes like a dark chocolate stout with a smooth finish.

First off thanks to SJ for this bottle. I enjoyed this stout very much. It has everything it needs, good notes of roast, coffee, dark fruit and a dry crisp finish. The only thing it is lacking in is the body. Sloghtly thin for my taste. Jndubbs (120) - Austin, Iowa, USA - MAY 1, 2013
Woodsy, coffee stout taste. Dark pour. Coffee smell. Smooth. No aftertaste. Good stuff. Majin (256) - West Des Moines, Iowa, USA - MAY 1, 2013
