Head is initially small, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing.
Body is light to medium brown.
Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (caramel), with notes of gum, orange peel, menthol, alcohol.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium to full body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation, moderately to heavily alcoholic.
A rather harsh, crude, medicinal rendition. brokensail (16449) - Dublin, California, USA - AUG 27, 2015
On tap @ Odin Tap Room. Dark copper colored beer with some off-white foam. Sugary caramel and dried fruits all the way through. A hint of alcohol, particularly on the tongue. Some plum, raisin, and fig. Maybe a hint of dried, sweetened pineapple. Slight phenolic spice quality, too. A little too high boost for me. stevoj (5043) - Boise, Idaho, USA - JUL 25, 2015
Bottle from my brother. Thanks, Bill! Haxy, murky clear dark copper pour, small soapy head. Aroma of pit fruit and a bit of brown sugar. Taste comes on strong, biting, sweet. Plenty of warmth at the back, but finishes weak. Dry, sweet, and a bit sharp. petebananafish (9) - - APR 24, 2015 does not count
It starts out pretty good but it’s not as good as the other strong Belgian beers we just had. Not bad but not amazing. smallfry (169) - - APR 24, 2015
(Bottle) I have no idea how to rate this. It’s very interesting. Quite dry. I don’t think I like it too much.

Bottle. Aroma of cola. Nice appearance. An interesting variety of flavors. Strong and a little boozy. Not really sure how to describe it. Not bad. atomicpunk22 (15) - Elk Grove, California, USA - FEB 7, 2015
On tap at The Collective in Woodinville, WA. Light off-tan head - good lacing for style. Solid caramel & fruity notes. Good mouthfeel - some heat, but doesn’t drink like 9%. Great domestic example of the style - will drink again. 78samh (287) - Olympia, Washington, USA - NOV 2, 2014
22 oz bottle pours murky copper. Fruity yeast aroma. Taste is funky and a tad toasty. Not sure I like this. It’s just OK. jsnicholas (628) - Woodinville, Washington, USA - AUG 24, 2014
UPDATED: SEP 15, 2014 Bottle (22oz $6): pours a dark brown with small tan head. Some lacing. Very tasty beer with cocoa being one of the main tastes.. furthur (1193) - Eagle River, Alaska, USA - JUL 17, 2014
Bottle pour, skiff of cream colored head over dark amber/cola colored head, great lacing. Aroma is malt. Flavor is malt, baked peach, raisin and plum, vanilla. Slightly bitter finish. Palate is smooth, rich, but not clingy or syrupy at all, carbonation subdued.
