COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Viking’s sunstone was a calcite crystal used to help locate the sun even in the cloudy northern seas. Artfully crafted and deviously strong, Sunstone Tripel effervesces with white peach, tangerine and clove flavors and is a worthy reward for any storm-drenched Viking’s homecoming. The central image on the label is of the runic compass Vegvísir. A piece of Icelandic Spar -a sunstone- may have been placed at the center of the compass to aid in solar navigation. Pairs well with: Brussels sprouts, margherita pizza, prosciutto, mussels and frites

On tap at the brewery. Pours a faintly hazed orange amber with a thin white head. Light citrus on the nose, warm sticky malt. Medium bodied, warm malt and sweetness, a vague hint of lemon but not the acid, just the peels. Warm malt and warming alcohol into the finish, lingering alcohol with some nice fruity esters.

Thick golden color color. A bit sticky sweet. Actually, yucky sweet. Sticky mouthfeel. It’s not estry but just weirdly sticky, makes me want to drink water to clear out the palate.

mcberko (17830) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 28, 2015
On tap at Stateside, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma is rather skunky and herbal, with phenols, apple and caramel. Flavour is very sweet, with caramelized apple, alcohol, and bready notes. About as far away from an authentic tripel as possible. Not my thing at all.

3.6
Oakes (17676) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 12, 2014
Hazy blonde, very yeasty, hazy dry hoppy, some dryness. Light bready character.

Clean, pleasant.

Lagerboy (2206) - British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 19, 2014
Bomber. Mostly clear orange yellow, foamy white head settles quickly and mostly fades. Spicy fruity yeast aroma. Initial taste is a spicy hot pepper yeasty bite, giving way to moderately sweet malts, bright fruits, slick and boozy. Average carbonation, light-medium bodied, moderately hopped. Tart citric and alcohol finish. NFL (Not For Lagerboys)
