bottle.... murky gold, nice huge cloudy off white head...really pleasant aroma, but on the sweeter side, lots of citrus, lemon zest, spices, a little sugar cookie, solid and refreshing despite lacking balance... the taste is even sweeter than the nose, too sweet, no hop balance and the spice is gone too, finish is weak and watery, disappointing despite drinkable bierkoning (13453) - La Tropica/Doarp, NETHERLANDS - AUG 2, 2011
Couldn’t believe this beer is retired. Bottle from EricAndersNavy, thanks! Pale golden color. Soft citrus and hoparoma. Firm citric hopflavor, with lots of citrusfruit and pineapple and other tropical fruits. Somewhat sticky mouthfeel. Soft hopbitter aftertaste. Very pleasant summer ale. theisti (4157) - Kansas, USA - JUL 22, 2011
22 oz. bottle purcahsed at the Pizza Port bottle shop in Carlsbad, California. Pour is a cloudy yellow golden with a loose white head. Aroma is grain wheat, mild phenols, and a pleasant lightly spiced yeast. Fresh and engaging nose. Taste is a nice full bodied cracked grain wheat, light clove, the lightly spiced yeast, and a gentle clean grain finish. Maybe a light citrus in the finish. I enjoyed the transition of flavors, and the anchor of the wheat element at the start and finish. Palate is medium bodied, beautifully un filtered mouth feel with prickly fine carbonation and a clean finish. Nice Saison, shame they’re gone. hellbilly (3247) - scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA - JUL 21, 2011
bottle at dak’s 1/2/11.
this is like the yellowest beer i’ve seen!
skunky noble hop aroma mixed with notes of lemon, yeast, pale graininess, straw, grass and a touch of vanilla.
the flavor shares all of the aroma’s notes and adds a little bitterness and pepper on the finish.
the medium body is crisp and refreshing yet there is a little sludgey-ness. 8/4/8/4/16+

Clear Golden big head. Tropical fruit with minor citrus notes Dry and Crisp very little sweetness. Yum. Sad to hear their stopping making this. SamGamgee (2452) - down the whirlpool, California, USA - JUN 26, 2011
So sad to hear that Peter and Rick have hung up the boots on Odonata. Maybe the world wasn’t ready for Saison, but I know there is a lot to the story beyond that. Anyway, seems about time to throw up a memorial to one of the best American-brewed saisons to have briefly graced the market. After having a few bottles of this, I never liked is quite as much as the awesome draft version, but it was nonetheless a very good saison. Lots of tropical fruit, citrus, and round, bready malt flavors packed in a glowing deep gold beer with a big white head. Hopefully Peter is brewing something comparable now up at Sutter Buttes in Yuca City. Now I just have to find an excuse to make the drive all the way up there... Bottle at Craigs. Poured a nice light gold colour with a thick white head. Gooseberries and some bready yeast on the nose. The taste was caramel and malty, alcohol was fairly present and some yeast in there. A thick, creamy mouthfeel. Likeable but not overly funky for a saison dantheman278 (1361) - SCOTLAND - JUN 15, 2011
Bottle courtesy of cgarvieuk. Pale amber with a bubbly white head. Nose is grassy, bready, very clean. Hints of gooseberry and yeast on the palate. Funky, dry and fizzy. Hint of alcohol on the finish. cgarvieuk (25391) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JUN 15, 2011
