Beautiful cloudy golden color. One awesome thing about this siason is it has a slightly sour tinge. If you like sours you will really enjoy this. The wheat really comes though. If your Hefe fan I think you will enjoy this. Bready delicious. Really yummy. Bitter lemon peel on the back of the tongue, honey in the aftertaste. Incredible mouth feel. gage (2) - Dublin, California, USA - JUN 12, 2010 does not count
This is a well balanced Saison, nothing really jumps out and kicks you in the teeth. The color is a rich golden color, somewhere around FFCC00 in hex. The mouth feel was a little thicker than I expected. Carbonation was just right. I prefer a little more funk in my farmhouse but I think they were aiming for balance with this beer. I’d choose this over the Lost Abbey or Ommegang every time. At ~$7 the price is right too. Savvy1982 (1706) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 15, 2010
Bottle, thanks to BMan1113VR, thanks a ton Andrew, I’m still working on getting Saison to be my #1 style. There’s a long road ahead, but this helps. Pours hazy, somewhat cloudy gold, medium highly-persistent white head, great lacing. Nose is Funk, lemons, white pepper, really nice light funkiness that will clearly develop with time. Some light earthiness here too, and though understated in terms of the nose proper, is really only in the same discussion with Fantome La Gourmande in terms of complexity. Mouthfeel is creamy, earthy, mushroomy, and still shows lovely bright lemon/citrus notes too. Fantastic balance of fresh/funk/earth here, balance is among the best I’ve ever had, really world-class, subtle Saison right here... Finish shows the traces of hops, nice lightly spicy bitterness, which completes the whole spectrum. Nearly perfect.. mu11igan (133) - Davis, California, USA - JUN 20, 2010
UPDATED: JUN 24, 2010 22oz bomber purchase at the Co-op in Davis, CA. I’ve had the draft version and the bottle competes with it in every way. The pour generates a beautiful, thick, fizzy head, that dissipates quickly. The color is a hazy golden orange. Relatively light on the palate; goes down incredibly smoothly. The taste is really what makes this beer for me. Spicy, citrusy, funky. I don’t think I could ever tire of this beer. Absolutely wonderful. Very proud to have a brew of this quality coming out of Sacramento! Rastacouere (6176) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 11, 2010
A spot-on American rendition that feels straight out of a (good) Belgian brewery. Beautifully veiled golden pour wearing a lasting, frothy white hat. Fresh pils malt boast a balanced cerealic, bready character without providing much too much sweetness on the palate. Not as attenuated as a Dupont or Blaugies, but certainly enough to be called dry. Its yeast character is not overbearing, but contributes to the breadiness on top of the malt and expands on the freshness concept. Soft phenols and subtle pear reminiscent esters add a complexity level. Perfectly rendered palate, dry yet just round enough, prickled by lively yet unagressive carbonation. Grows spicy (mostly pepper) and lemony towards the finish - both traits entertaining the drinker’s refreshment. A most successful ale. Alcohol is of course not a factor.

Pours hazy yellow with a thick white head. Aroma is two funky and sour like smelly feet, and that flavour ij your mouth after too much candy. Flavour is very nice, some vanilla amd sour yeast. It tastes very belgian. Earthy, mushroom, flavours, it reminds me of drinking Orval. This is a fantastic brew sour and funky without being over the top in the sour department. Well balanced and drinkable. I love the bret.! changeup45 (1731) - Lake Mary, Florida, USA - DEC 31, 2010
Bottle from Healthy Spirits. Slightly hazy golden color and pours with a thick fluffy white head. Just a wonderful citrus, herbal, spicy, and floral bouquet aroma. Cinnamon, herbs, lemon, citrus, banana, wheat, spring flowers, this really does smell good. This has everything I look for in a Saison and is a reminder as to why I love this style so much. Velvety sweet citrus and floral notes, light spices, again picking up cinnamon, with a touch of funky sourness that all play off each other nearly perfectly. Vanilla, wheat, lavender, and herbs all meld in the flavor adding some complexity. However, it’s the simplicity of this brew that I love. The flavors are delicate, crisp, and refreshing, but also quite tasty with seemingly just about the right amount of spice and barnyard sourness to compliment the sweeter flavors. Damn, and I’m drinking this on a somewhat warm December evening. I can only imagine how tasty this would be on a hot summer day. popery (2170) - San Francisco, California, USA - JUN 12, 2010
This is fantastic stuff. It pours a mildly hazy orange-yellow with an excellent white head. The aroma is lovely. There’s mild funk, lemons, peppercorns and fields of bright, fresh barley. It has an incredibly nice phenolic character, sort of a band-aid aroma that mixes in perfectly. The flavor is even better. The beer is almost perfectly balanced and has absolutely no off-notes for me. There’s some fresh, summery malt sweetness upfront, leading into excellent spice and finishing dry and a bit hoppy. The feel is light and refreshing. It’s frighteningly drinkable. An excellent beer. Edit: Had another bottle - my score keeps creeping up. joeneugs (6371) - Livermore, California, USA - JUN 13, 2010
Believe the hype! This is a phenomenal Saison. It pours a golden orange color with a medium fizzy white head. The aroma is nicely balanced with an incredible spicy yeast character and some sweet and tart fruit, fresh grains. Just beautiful. The flavor is very spicy/peppery with lemons/orange and a very complex spiced finish. It’s hard to pinpoint the flavors here... maybe some vanilla, soap, pepper, coriander, lemon zest? Anyway, it’s freakin awesome! The wheat backbone supports these powerful flavors flawlessly. Perfectly balanced between the spicy/sweet and tart. This is really top notch and deserves to be mentioned as one of the best American made Saisons. 50belair (3680) - Florida, USA - AUG 5, 2010
This bottle was an extra from azureoval, thanks... The pour was a hazy golden color with a nice white head. The taste is light and refreshing with notes of yeast, spices , citrus, and a florally sort of haystack feel to it. Perfect for a warm summer evening.
