COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
OIBF Collaboration Brew: For our collaborative brew with Buxton we decided to brew a Scotch Ale, but as our first collaboration with Buxton use plenty of US hops so it is more like an IPA. The base is what we thought would be appropriate for a Scotch Ale: some toasted and caramelized malts including Special B with gives raisiny flavor. To Enhance the dried fruit flavor we added figs and raisins in the hopback and picked hop varieties known for their dark fruit flavors.Bramling Cross and Pacific Gem in the kettle, Cascade and Mosaic in the hop back and Simcoe and Cascade as dryhops.

330ml bottle - pre-HBF2017 hotel bash - thanks Hermod! (7:4:7:4:15=3.7)
Rich fruity aroma, bold hops. RIch toffee malts in the taste, fruity and resiny. Long finish is pleasantly bitter. Has a nice woody dryness that works brilliantly with the toffee from the malts. Lovely one.

Murky brown with lasting head. Aroma and flavour have light caramel malts and bitter citrus. Feels a bit boozy.

30-05-2017; bottle; at home (bought at Bier&zO in Rotterdam, The Netherlands). The looks of the beer are very good. I like it. The beer has a nice ruby red color, with a brownish touch. The beer is quite clear, but a tiny touch of cloudiness is there. On top of the beer there is a nice layer of foam. The foam has a nice slightly yellowish brown color. The foam has good retention. After a while a nice drape of soft foam still exists. The smell is nice. It is quite a rich smell, and it has many different aromas. At first there is a nice malty sweetness, with some toasty touches. After some sniffs a nice aroma of sweet figs and some full and sweet raisins fill the nose. Nice. The raisin, fig and malt give nice sweet aromas. This is balanced by a nice hoppy bitterness. The hop aroma isn’t very complex. It mainly gives bitters. Nice. The taste of the beer is not bad. It is just not as great as I expected. The beer has an astringent bitter thing, that isn’t that pleasant. I don’t know what it is derived from, but it is not my thing. There are also nice sweet and slightly toasted malts, some sweet dark fruits like fig and raisin and some bitter hops. To bad this strong bitter thing is there. Not that great. Accept for this it is nice. Tha palate of the beer isn’t bad. The body is medium, with a slightly sticky texture and medium carbonation. The finish contains that same bitter thing, but also lovely alcohol flavours which are very warming, and some nice dark dried fruits. Not bad, but I expected more.

Bottle. Pours a clear darker amber beer with a medium sized, off white head on top. Aroma of red fruits, lots of caramel, sugary malts and not much else. Flavor is intensly sweet and sugary, quite sticky and yet well carbonated. A bit weird and a bit messy, but certainly not bad at all. Starts off fairly sweet, has a bitter middle and finishes bittersweet. Influences of cookies and other stuff. Weird, but decent.. that’s all.

ALIBALI (2205) - Kiel, GERMANY - APR 30, 2017
Daumen hoch👍..0,33l Bottle from BEYOND BEER HH. Ca.4€.

330ml bottle (thanks Hermod). Hazy amber color. Medium size, beige head, stays. Bready, citrus, fruity, hay, spruce and sweet in aroma. Bready, citrus, hay, roasty, spruce, sweet, twiggy and yeast in taste. Dry mouthfeel. Quite sweet. Reminds me more of a caramelly saison. Drinkable brew.

Sample from bottle at hotel room in Helsinki. Thanks to Hermod! Colour is murky light brown with small white head. Aromas and flavors: Caramel, some dry fruits and malts. Pretty good. Quite hoppy for this kind of beer. I like this one.
