COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
OIBF Collaboration Brew: For our collaborative brew with Buxton we decided to brew a Scotch Ale, but as our first collaboration with Buxton use plenty of US hops so it is more like an IPA. The base is what we thought would be appropriate for a Scotch Ale: some toasted and caramelized malts including Special B with gives raisiny flavor. To Enhance the dried fruit flavor we added figs and raisins in the hopback and picked hop varieties known for their dark fruit flavors.Bramling Cross and Pacific Gem in the kettle, Cascade and Mosaic in the hop back and Simcoe and Cascade as dryhops.

33cl bb07/2017 from Oedipus 6er collab sampler, Gouda. - Short: more resiny than raisiny dry sherry of a Scotch... The figs and raisins add an unusual earthy dryness instead of fruity sweetness to the amber strong ale infrastructure. Also reminiscent of an aged white porto. Enjoyable in a strange, dare I say PoMo calvinist way: dryhop over candy indulgences - but needs to be paired with a sweet fruit dessert to brings out its dormant potential...

Bottle from Biernavigatie, bottling date 22/07/2016 BB 22/07/2017, 33 cl sample. Slight hazy copper color, medium frothy head with lasting lacing. Aroma has burned caramel, slight spices and dried fruit. Soft sweetness, again with burned notes, caramel, toffee, spices and dried fruit. Medium carbonation makes it look good, but it is a tad harsh and full bodied because of it. Belgian styled ale, which a Scotch is, that has plenty to offer, but is not gonna be a classic for me. Decent though.

33cl bottle at home from de Molen, Bodegraven. Nose is dark berries, citrus. Body is hazy deep brown, head is big, beige, rocky, mostly lasting, excellent lacing. Aroma is citrus, grass, leaves, milk chocolate, spices, roasted malt, dried fruits. Light sweet, medium to heavy bitter. Finish is medium lasting hoppy medium bitter. Full body, slick texture, average carbonation. Easy dessertish beer, didnt expect such hoppy beer, more like brown IPA, great one.

Bottle from Kisjes Slijterijen, Meppel. Aroma is rich malt, caramel, fruity and resinous hops, dark fruits, touch of figs, toffee, raisins. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Body is medium. Quite nice, rich malty with dried fruits and plenty of hoppy notes. Good!

Cloudy red-brown with minimal head. Smells like fruitcake -- its the raisins. Strong and full-bodied, with a slightly sweet finish. Tasty but not amazing.

Pours hazy, copper colored. Medium head quickly reduces to lacing. Aroma is fruitcake, and a bit of candy sugar. Surprisingly, not sweet. Citrus on the front, trailing off to something a bit breadlike. Full body.
