Panty we want to be a rich stout that is still an easy drinker. Roasted, caramelized and some rye malts enhance the body of this beer. Together with Cascade hops the flavours of Panty are mostly roasty, chocolately and licorice-like.

Gangstergafje (1273) - Capelle aan den IJssel, NETHERLANDS - NOV 18, 2017
18-11-2017; bottle; at home (bought at Plus supermarket in Capelle aan den IJssel, The Netherlands). Hmmmmmmmm, what an extremely good looking beer. The beer has a Stout look like a Stout look is supposed to be. The beer is literally pitch black. With a very strong light behind it, a ruby red glow can be seen. Lovely. On top of the beer a rather thick and froth layer of light brown foam is formed. Foam retention is good, very good. Unofrtuanely this makes it hard for the beer to propel all the aromas. I will describe the flavours at firs, since the foam layer keeps all the aromas inside of the beer. The taste of the beer is lovely! It has been a long time since I had a good tasting Stout like this one from a Dutch brewery (in my opinion most Dutch stouts lack a bit of power, body and depth). This one is very nice. The beer is filled with strong malt flavours. I taste a strong bittersweet chocolate flavour, that is really pure. This is accompanied by some nice coffee flavours, some plain roasted and toasted barley and just a touch of liquorice. Amazing. Those strong and dark malts give a good load of bitterness and sweetness. Hops give a nice fresh touch to this. Not to strong, but just enough to enhance the malts and to balance them out a bit. Lovely. After many minutes, when the foam has somewhat settled, the lovely aromas of this stout are unveiled. They are quite similar to the taste. I smell the same lovely malts, overflowing the nostrils with lovely bittersweet chocolate, toasted and roasted barley, a touch of coffee and a minor hint of liquorice. The chocolate also comes in a creamy chocolate milk touch, that is extra nice. Love this one. Hops are a bit stronger in the taste. They give lovely floral and fruity notes. There is also a touch of berry. The hops go along with the chocolatey malts remarkably well. Lovely. The palate of the beer is nice. The beer has a medium-full body. It is not as full as some stouts can be. The texture is a bit thin and carbonation is high. I think that this is the 'easy drinker' factor. Might be nice for the peeps that ain't big on heavy stouts, but for me it is a bit weak. I like my stout to be full and soft, but thats just a personal preference. The finish of the beer is fine. It contains some bittersweet chocolate at first, but it is followed by a quite bitter dry thing...that lacks a bit of balance. This gives the beer some room for improvement. So, all in all, a nice beer, but the palate is a bit to average for me. For me this could be improved, to make it a 5/5 beer instead of a 4.7/5 beer, which is a great score already.

Bottle from Crafty Bottle, Lincoln. Deep ruby brown to black colour with a white foamy tan head. Aroma has roasted malts and light chocolate. Taste is quite light roasted malt. Light body.

A straigtforward Stout without extravagant extractions. Roast en herbs in nose. Taste is toasted, chocolate, some coffee en fresh herbs. Nice.
