Bottle. Pours deep, dark brown with fizzy tan head. Aroma is subtle but well dome with layers of smoke, chocolate, roasted malts, pork, and faint dark fruit notes. Flavor is dry and malty with a touch of caramel sweetness and soft bitterness; smoke undertones present throughout and come thru at the end for a dry, woody finish. Medium body.

ogivlado (7955) - Zagreb, CROATIA - MAR 17, 2015
Bottled 355ml. -at O’Hara Zagreb. Nearly black coloured, small off-white head that went away fast, light roasty nose. Roasted malt, caramel, smoke and sugar with rather sweet finish. Far far away from smoked Bamberg beers.

Nice and smokey. Perfect beer to go with a nice Smokey whiskey and some sort of meats... I am a fan.

Dark cola brown almost black, no head, only a tan ring. Aroma is smoked malt, bacon and chocolate. Taste is even more smoked and bacon flavored, very mildly sweet and mild chocolate and roast notes, some charcoal. Medium bodied.

Surprised I hadn’t previously reviewed this, having enjoyed both draft & bottled versions at a number of festivals & gatherings. This time, shared 12 oz. bottles brought back from Missouri, poured to snifters, displaying a darkest brown color, with ruby highlighting, a presentable layer of brownish tan head foam, and a cluster of thick spots of lacing. The nose was well roasted, with subtle sweetness of caramel, toffee, and treacle, and defining smoke. The taste was similar notes as the aroma, with soft carbonation, in a light to medium body. Seemed a bit light textured this time around, but a benchmark example of the style, nonetheless.

O’Fallon Smoke. Bottle shared with Ribafish at O’Hara Zagreb, huge thanks Marin and Hrvoje! Poured a dark brown body with a teeny tiny off white head that went away fast. Oily aroma, smoked fish, just slightly sickly. Taste... smoked ham, but light with some soft maltiness. It’s allegedly usually better, but this bottle was underwhelming I’m afraid. Shame.

Bottle from a six pack. Wonderful malty aroma. I can almost smell the campfire. Not quite black, but extremely dark. Not much head to speak of. Interesting flavor. Something sour in the aftertaste.
