Bottle at Craig’s. Pours black, aroma and taste are sour and vinegary, bad batch? RichardW (1813) - Carlisle, Cumbria, ENGLAND - JAN 30, 2015
Bottle Beerdock Crewe. Boozy red wine and port aroma. Its surprisingly light bodied, the flavour transfers immediately but doesn’t linger. Sour plums come to mind, there’s not a lot of roast character for a stout. Dark ruby colour. An unusual beer Scopey (14511) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 8, 2013
Bottle at CGarvie tasting. It pours dark brown with a small off-white head. The nose is roasted malt, cake, brown bread, spice and chocolate. The taste is very tangy indeed....tangy green apple, dominant sourness, whisky, earth, toast, alcohol warmth and rubber with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Clearly infected. 500ml bottle [7.4% abv]. Black colour with no head, just a reawakening afterwards fading thin beige layer. Dark malty aroma with whiskey notes, vanilla, leather. Taste is dark malty with a sourish touch; flat and insipid palate. Infected? olio (10167) - Tampere, FINLAND - MAR 24, 2013
50 cl bottle (abv 7.4). BBE 11/2013. Batch #345.undercurrent25 (2130) - Barnton, Cheshire, ENGLAND - JUN 28, 2012
Pours dark red-brown, almost black color with a very small head. Aroma of tar, some tar notes, roasted malts, faint whisky, some chocolate, mild hops and some vanilla and peat. Flavor of milky chocolate, vanilla, some faint sourish fruit notes. Dark berries and roasty caramel malts. A bit flat, slick and a bit sourish palate, not quite sure if it’s intentional or is there some mild contamination going on.
Version I had was 7.4% Black in appearance with little head, taste is of roast malts and slight coffee, the whiskey taste was only slight and only if you look for it BeerCast_Rich (1906) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - NOV 14, 2011
[cask at Bacchus, Newcastle] Black pour, no head to speak of. Pretty flat, as well. Some roast on the nose, and a sweetness reminding me of sherry. The body was good - big marzipan taste, decent alcohol component. Quite fruity on the taste as well. Shame about flatness, but maybe at the end of the cask
