Draft at Oggi’s Santee. Hazy yellow. Aromas and flavors of wheat twang. About what I expected from an American wheat. Only the Germans do this right.

A passable hefeweizen gets slightly higher marks than it possibly deserves for being one of the better draft handles. A run of the mill beer is more American than German. If I were desperate for a wheat fix this would fit the bill. Ultimately though I think it misses the mark.
Aroma / Appearance - A golden lemon base looks the part of a hefeweizen with a soft texture. Wheat, lemon butter, toast, and other lightweight flavors float in the air.
Flavor / Palate - Honey, almonds, and wheat warm the tongue for a second. A brief transition sweeps to a wheaty finish. The soft texture sticks in the throat for only a second before it begins to fade. This is not that memorable overall but is simply your average brewpub wheat.
American have and in no way does it come you even close to the German hefe but it’s not bad for a brew pub.
