Pours with a golden body topped by a thin head with some lacing left on the glass. It’s slightly skunky with a touch of hops and a little sweet maltiness. Light to medium bodied and smooth. DarkElf (3062) - La Jolla, California, USA - JUL 2, 2005
(Nitro draft: Oggi’s in Vista, CA) Another beer brewed in Vista, and it’s served on nitro. After the cascading completes its business, a fairly hazy, pale golden beer fills the glass, and is topped by a small, white head that shows solid retention. Flavorwise, this is a gently hoppy, minimally sweet pale ale with a light grain maltiness. The hops tastes very fresh! Very light nose, barely discernable unless you swirl the glass, and then a very gentle hops aroma coyly says hello. However, the soft hoppy aroma opens up once the beer warms and more head space is made in the glass. Somewhat thin on the palate, but this is an extra pale ale after all. However, it has a nice, clean, and softly carbonated mouthfeel with a bit of crispness in the finish. And as I finish the beer, wide patches of dense lace adorn the glass. I’m not much of an extra pale ale fan, but I did like the flavor of the fresh hops.
