Had this after a Ding Ding. IMO the Ding Ding is much better. Aroma on this is fruity but not as much as the DD. Has some smoke to it. This has a lot of malt backbone but is not sweet. Eyedrinkale (3214) - Astoria, New York, USA - FEB 9, 2004
I don't know what's not to like about this stuff. 8.3 is masked so well. Nice light orange pour with beautiful fruit aromas. Hoppy and sweet. Great work, Tom. 21iceman40 (1735) - Grafton, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 8, 2004
Tom's beer. Has a dark amber with a hint of reddish in the color. Has a small almost white head on it. Has a thick grapefruit hopped feel to it, ya, thats it. Best thing oggi's has ever made by far, what would be cool is if they would actually have it on tap at oggi's. egajdzis (6589) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 31, 2004
Poured an amber color with a very small head and no lacing. Fruity citrusy hop aroma. Fruity taste, also included hints of some bubblegum and a bitter grapefruit bite. Full mouthfeel. MilkmanDan (1943) - Eagan, Minnesota, USA - JAN 29, 2004
Hazy deep peach. Nose is very hoppy, herbal and softly sugary, a bit sour. VERY hoppy flavor, super tart, lots of grapefruit, very dry. Got a bit of spiciness, a bit peppery perhaps. Nice candyish sugars as well. Damn good.

Opaque copper with beige head. Aroma is medium sweet grapefruit. Taste is medium sweet, grapefruit juice. Medium body, nice resins. jeffc666 (1984) - Fairfax, Virginia, USA - JAN 28, 2004
UPDATED: SEP 28, 2004 271 = 2X IPA plus 71 lbs of hops per 7 bbl batch. This batch was cask conditioned with Amarillo hops in the keg. Cloudy amber with a foamy white head Huge citrus hop aroma. Massive hop monster flavor, wow, what a beer. This is the defintion of an IIPA. Medium body with a ton of hop bitterness. Yum. Lupulin Slam 2004 Winner IMO. Tom Nichols can brew un-godly beers. Wow. A very nice brew that pours a dark amber with little lacing head. Flavors of fruty flowers and wonderful hops. Tom is my hero. DaSilky1 (2606) - San Diego, California, USA - JAN 20, 2004
hmm...271 eh', isn't that 60+90+120...+1? Interesting....well, this beer poured a very nice dark evil orange color with absolutely no head..it had a deep caramel covered hop aroma hitting resiny notes at times...big hop flavors of orange and tangerine and biting bitterness everywhere. Definitely a big bitter beer.
