(Sampler @ Oggi’s Peoria, AZ): Pours a reddish golden color, small whitish head. Not much aroma. Dry hoppy taste, some pine, leafy greens taste. Still a little too hoppy for the sweet taste.

On draft @ Oggie’s Carmel Mountain. Poured a clear, medium amber with an off white head.....light lacing. Pretty much your standard amber ale, nothing special.

tap @ scottsdale. pour is clear amber topped with a thin white head that recedes quickly. sweet malt/caramel and pine aroma. flavor is pretty much the same...mildly malty with a generic pine and citrus hop dryness. light to medium bodied with lots of carbonation. easy drinker...

UPDATED: NOV 13, 2007 Draft, consumed at Oggi’s Canyon Country 11/5/07. Clear amber, tan head. No aroma whatsoever, even right up under my nose. Maybe served too cold? Missing hops in nose appear on palate as bitter citrus, battling and overcoming malt flavor. Matching aftertaste lingers a while. Not bad, but I was expecting more malt in an ESB.

On tap at Oggi’s Vista. Small microbubble head with wisps on the surface of an amber liquid. A little subdued roasted flavor and mild aroma.

Huntington Beach - Easily one of the best brown ales I’ve had the pleasure of consuming. Unlike some ESB’s, this aroma showed some serious hop prescence and it was easily the star, but the malts were nice with enough sweetness and nuttyness to keep things balanced. The beer went down extremely easy, with notes of caramel, pine, nuts with a clean crisp finish. Reminded me in some ways of Drakes Hoppy Ass Brown. Nice beer.

bhensonb (15498) - Woodland, California, USA - JUL 24, 2007
Draft at Oggi’s, Liberty Station Point Loma. Light aroma of fruit and caramel malt. Decent amber color. White head that both filmed and laced. Rather thin bodied. Sweet caramel malt flavors insufficiently balanced with bitter hop. The finish is not at all dry.

Had a real bite for an amber - which is kind of an ambiguous classification for a beer. I thought this was more bitter than the IPA that I had before this one. It was a good beer, but not exactly what I expected. Just a bit too bitter.
