18 jan 2014, tap at Oggis in Fullerton. Light orange, clear, no bubbles. Nose is pine and resin hops. Thin/med body and moderately fizzy. Very grassy hops with sweet malt and bitter finish. Okay b ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours transparent golden orange with a thin white head. The nose is big grapefruit, some caramel, honey, passion fruit and pine tree. The taste is high sweet and low bitter until the finish where the bitter bumps up a bit but not enough. The texture is soft at first but leaves some crisp carbo fizz after. Body is heavy and the finish is long. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I taste some coconut in there. Nice aNd hoppy. I have the feeling if I drink a lot of this it would give me a headache. Fortunately this is just a sample.

It’s a little rough around the edges, with a medicinal bite that forgoes interesting hop complexities. Torrey Pines IPA feels only half colored in and would benefit from a rewrite.

March 4, 2011 - with blankboy, garthicus, gregclow, jerc and mabel: my 22oz bottle. Pale amber-gold with a very large long-lasting thick frothy off-white head. Sharply bone dry aroma, citrus zest, alcohol (plenty of it) - a bit papery (7-). Taste follows - boozy citrus, grapefruit pith, not at all sweet. Chewy, dry, quite lively mouthfeel - a long dry grapefruit pith finish without the citrus juiciness. While it was a fairly fresh bottle, it still seemed a tad stretched-out and old.

Part of the taster sampler at the brewery near Disneyland. Just another typical IPA. Fairly well balanced hops and went down smooth. A nice easy drinker.

16 oz glass at brewery. Hue is amber-orange, aroma is pine resin and orange grapefruit melange. Taste is a balanced pine-citrus salute to the West Coast IPA. Nice stuff.

Poured from a draft into a pint glass at Oggi’s in Santee, Calif. About 1 ½ fingers of head when I got it. Color was honey pale. Bubbly white lacing on the sides that lasted almost the entire pour. Nice amount of uneven film on the sides that lasted throughout the pour. Smelled sweet floral notes. Pretty typical of an IPA. Got some lemon citrus notes, too. Tasted pretty similar to the nose. Got citrus hops, mainly lemon. Lots of caramel malts. Not especially balanced. Medium body. Watery texture. Average carbonation. Smooth finish. Not a bad beer, not a great beer. Somewhere in the middle. Pretty typical. I’d probably try it again.
