SILVER METAL 2000 Great American Beer Festival! Big, bold hop flavors define this wonderful India Pale Ale. This is a stronger, hoppier version of a regular pale ale. Loads of Columbus, Cascade, Willamette and Centennial hops are used in this beer that would please any hop-head!

Bitter without florals, flavorless except for the unpleasant vegetal bitterness. Its as if they used rotting green bean juice instead of hops in this one. Not pleasant in any sense - in fact I had to pour this one down.

Malty aromas with a slight underlying citrus tone. Toffee and a little alcohol note on the palate. Drying bitter finish.

Pours a golden yellow with good head and lacing. Taste is mild for an IPA, hoppy just as advertised. A drinkable IPA but nothing special of note.

Not too impressed with this one but it was one of the remaining beers at the store I hadn’t tried, basic iPA with the deep resiny taste and a hint of spice but not bad just off easy to drink and no alcohol burn to speak of not bad value at 4.40 a bomber

A: The pour is a golden orange/amber color with a finger of white head and some mild lacing. S: Fairly typical and middle of the road IPA aroma to this beer. Heavy on the pine notes with a big lemon smell and some decent citrus peel. Bready malts and mild toffee give this some sweetness. T: A big time lemon flavor that is almost like a lemon scented cleaner. Decently bitter with a bit of an herbal hop flavor and some grassiness. A moderate malt character with a mild sweetness. M: Medium in body with a medium carbonation. O: Not bad, but a really middle of the road IPA. Nothing I’d care to have again.

Poured a hazy yellow color. Full frothey head. Aroma of citrus pine hops, some sour apple. Med-lite bitter, light sour. Creamy texture, ave carbonation. Too much sourness in this beer. Maybe skunked?

It’s a little rough around the edges, with a medicinal bite that forgoes interesting hop complexities. Torrey Pines IPA feels only half colored in and would benefit from a rewrite.

an OK IPA, nothing spectacular.......................................

Cask. Name is appropriate, as it smells like a pine tree. While it's supposed to be hoppy, it has very few malts. To me, tastes more under-malted than overhopped. Bit creamy, but too thin and lacks any malt backbone.

Bottle. Aroma hop-forward with pine, dry citrus/grapefruit, resinous bitter hops. Flavor adds in a sweet malt and loads of alcohol, way too much showing for a 6.8% IPA. Odd, unpleasant, lingering bad-bitter finish. Not a favorite.
