Bottle. Spicy, aromatic, but very bitter (sour) citrus hoppy ale with very dry bitter finish. Didn’t enjoy it. Too bitter for me. (2008)

Bottle enjoyed whilst in Devon, rating from historic notes. Poured a slightly cloudy amber colour with an off-white head. Aroma is malty and hoppy, some caramel and a very light spice. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness. Medium body, slight oily texture. Finish is a little dry with lasting bitterness. wheresthepath (2334) - Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - DEC 27, 2015
Cask at the Monk’s Retreat (JDW), Reading. Amber with a medium off-white head and a prickly fizz. Rather slimy caramel with some dead leaves, a little apricot and a hint of spice. Another crap Christmas beer with little Christmassy about it, although I can’t fault Wetherspoons for the conditioning which was once again excellent.
