Pint at Bodega as Prouty’s Irish Red. Clear dark red with a thin beige head. Aroma of caramel malt, some fruit and crisp noble hops. Malty flavor quickly turning to unforgiving bitterness all the way to the finish. Dogbrick (13026) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAR 19, 2010
Sample at the brewpub the day before St. Patrick’s Day. This beer is a clear orange-amber color with a medium thin and foamy off-white head that diminishes steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of toasted malt, caramel and hops. Medium body with flavors of roasted malt, hops, sweet caramel and touches of sweet fruit. The finish is caramel malt up at first, with a lightly hoppy aftertaste. Pretty good overall. donvitozou (141) - memphis, Tennessee, USA - AUG 11, 2006
on tap at o’hooleys since july?06. dark copper with thin white head. smokey and caramely with a little bit of fruit. medium to full bodied. is malty in the beginning with the fruity flavors, finishes bitter. a strange balance of chewy and crisp. highly recommended OhioDad (2492) - Hilliard, Ohio, USA - JUL 23, 2006
On tap at the brewpub - Pours dark copper with a thick tan head that stays very well and laces the glass. Nice aroma of caramel, dark fruit, and some smoke. Flavor is caramel, brown sugar, raisins, smoke, and a lot of earthiness. Good solid smooth body and a nice thick mouthfeel. This one was a winner and probably my favorite that I tried at Ohio Brew Week.
