Cirrhosis (1283) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - SEP 9, 2009
Very dark brown body that appears pretty much black in the glass, a small brown film floats on top. Aroma is very stout like with coffee and burnt malts dominating. Taste is much the same coffee, ash, light malts and all are very sweet with bitterness showing up in the finish. Very drinkable light tasting brew glad I found it on tap.

Bottle. Pretty black with small head that dissipates over time. Not very carbonated but ok in that department. Hops are not strong. Coffee and nut flavours are present, with a hint of licorice in the finish.

hobbersr (690) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 19, 2009
Had on tap a Original Joe’s. Pours cola coloured, with very little head. Aroma is ashy and has hints of chocolate, coffee and a little bit of roasted nuts. The taste is quite nice, roasty and chocolaty. Decent

MrRoss (646) - Delta, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 7, 2009
beer that was new to me until having a couple whle dining out tonight. Almost no aroma, to go along with a very black and non-transparent body. Almost headless, too. Taste was not so bad, with malt and some burnt coffee on offer. Average mouth, and a respectable finish.

Tap at Stella’s Tap and Tapas. Dark black beer with a thin brown head. Aroma is of lightly toasted nuts and a little bit of dry cocoa. Medium-bodied with a light DMS character and some faint toasted malt. A light lingering roastiness on the back. Meh. Not a great schwarzbier, but not a bad one either.

colinw (19) - , British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 24, 2009
Draft. Nice body, a bit, but not too thin or milky. Good coffee flavours and the fact that it is actually a lager does manage to come through. A bit too sweet perhaps, but that’s probably just a matter of preference.

GeneralGao (3614) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - MAR 9, 2009
Draft. Poured a deep dark brown color with garnet light shining through. The head was thin and brown. Pleasant aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Medium bodied and slightly sweet. Tasted of black bread, chocolate brownie, and light roasty malt. Good beer, but reminded me more of an oatmeal stout than a schwarzbier.

pintbypint (3877) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 23, 2008
341ml brown bottle. Deep brown colour. The tan head is sparse, though some creamy lacing is left behind. Roasty aroma, trace mineral scent, trace coffee. Chocolate malts are upfront, finishes with a slight roast bite. Mild carbonation, light body.

3.3
DuffMan (10733) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - NOV 30, 2008
Bottle as a part of a variety pack. Pours a near-black brown with a bubbly light brown head. No lace. Nice roast and coffee aromas. Coffee, molasses, roast, moderately dry finish. Not bad!

CapFlu (5132) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 29, 2008
(Bottle) Purchased at Brewery Creek in Vancouver. Thin, lasting beige head with a black body. Nose of ashtray and bitter chocolate. Flavour of coffee grinds mixes with chocolate malt. Bitter, sour milk finish. Good but needs more of a coffee finish. 7/4/6/2/12
