This porter poured a deep black colour with a big, beautiful, creamy, light brown head. Scents include ripe fruit, cocoa, roasted malts and caramel. First swig was creamy and sweet with flavours of caramel and roasted malt being the most predominant. Finish is thick, sweet and roasty with malt flavours lingering.
nearly pitch black with a crisp head that dissipates quickly. figgy flavour balanced with toasty dark malt, delivered through a clear and concise filtered body. great winter beer. doesn't go overboard on anything that a porter can go overboard with (sweet, dry, boozy...). bang for your buck at 8.5 percent abv doesn't hurt it's rep. thomasnovak (1) - Brentwood Bay, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 2, 2017 does not count
This has been my favourite beer for years.
having immigrated from Germany i have missed the dark and malty beers that many pubs still tho this day brew themselves.
This porter is smooth with tons of flavor and a rich but yet mellow finish.. This one is a winner.. love it fiulijn (21274) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 13, 2015
Dark brown color with small head. A lot of dark malts, and light liquorice feeling; good body strength, a bit of alcohol; moderately sweet; some stale feeling too; it reminds me of South German dunkels, but bolder. exeter (569) - calgary, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 23, 2015
Pours a dark brown with red tinges when aimed at the light. The taste is roasted malts, cocoa, dark fruits and coffee. Has a nice bitterness that gives balance. good beer simonblaine (593) - Alberta, CANADA - NOV 22, 2014
Pours dark, frothy head. Aroma of cherries and chocolate. Taste is the same, chalky mouth feel.

341 ml bottle. Pours black with deep amber highlights in edges, very dissipating tan head, some lacing. Aromas of chocolate coffee caramel roasted malts. Taste coffee chocolate and caramel malt. Nice lasting finish, well balanced. Reimer96 (1778) - Alberta, CANADA - JUN 10, 2014
Only the second decently done beer from Okanagan Springs I know of(brewmasters is the other). Pours and almost opaque black with a frothy brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, cocoa, dried fruits and something lightly off and maybe buttery. Taste is roasted malts, chocolate, cocoa and dark dried fruits with a dry finish. Nice big full body porter. But just not the balance that the style requires... Needs some fine tuning. XaenDovet (1281) - British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 15, 2014
Drank out of small bottle. Minimal aroma above a slightly chocolatey malt. Taste is sweet. Thin mouthfeel. Lagerboy (2239) - British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 13, 2013
341 ml bottle courtesy of Eyrish. Clear darkest brown, slight amber hue, fading tan head. Sweet roasted malt aroma, a whiff of dark fruits. Dark roasted caramel malt taste, some chocolate, a hint of coffee, lightly bitter spicy hops. Dried dark fruits become vinous as it warms. Soft carbonation, medium bodied. While ABV is well hidden, some alcohol warmth emerges towards the finish. Solid local effort but: NFL (Not For Lagerboys)
