Pours from the bottle a dark, opaque and muddy brown/black color. Forms an initial nice thick 1" beige head. Retention wasn’t impressive with only small islands of isolated foam floating on the surface. Moderately assertive aromas of roasted malt, dark chocolate, mince meat pie, anise, black licorice, molasses, raisins and port wine pleasantly greet the nose. Mouthfeel was fairly full, round and slick with a fine and subdued carbonation level. Rich and complex flavor profile is enjoyed starting off with sweet roasted malts, molasses, toffee, semi-sweet chocolate and dark rum soaked angel cake. Subtler notes of anise, black licorice candy, espresso and port wine fill in the background. Finishes with a touch of alcohol warmth. A well done Baltic porter for sure.

Poured from bottle(room temp) a pitch black with a smallish head of brown foam that dissipates slowly leaving a couple of "islands" in the middle of the glass.
The smell is of roasty sweet malt with some notes of chocolate.
The taste is sweet roasted malt and chocolate with some of the alcohol poking its head(no pun intended) through providing a nice warming sensation.
Bottom line: It's not as big and bold as the samples I had before the temporary halt of exportation but...it's still a great drop.
I think I'll save the other 2 bottles for later this year and see how things change.
Edit: May 29, 2006: I had to give 1 of my 2 remaining bottles a try and I have to say the flavour has evolved enough to make a difference. I note a more sweetish malt with anise tones and the body is bordering on syrupy...aging is doing fine so I'll keep my last bottle for say, the end of the year.

Piana drobna obfita, opada powoli, zdobi szkło. Aromat słodki, praliny, suszone owoce, bardzo przyjemny. Smak, uderza gładka struktura, słodki porter, dużo suszonych owoców, czekolada, karmel, melanoidyny, alkohol ułożony wyczuwalny jedynie w szlachetny sposób. Piwo ułożyło sie genialnie, Jednak Porter z tego browaru jest bardzo nie równy zdarzają się warki fatalne, tej należy się szacunek WOW.
Originally rated on 1/14/2009. I sampled this one after sinebrychoff and i prefered the okocim. The aroma had alot of fruit notes along with the toasted malts, and chocolate. Flavor was similar to the aroma with the sweet fruit, chocolate, and coffee finish, very smooth despite the high alcohol content.
