Pours black. Nice roasty aroma- nuts, coffee, and bread. Flavor is similar, a little bit of caramel as well. Very nice- easy drinking and flavorful.
On tap at Capitol Beer & Tap Room. Pours near black with a clinging tan head and a sweet smoky aroma. There is a hearty smoked malt flavor with a dry finish. bhensonb (15958) - Woodland, California, USA - JAN 3, 2016
Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark brown with orange glints and a tan head. Aroma is lightly smoky malt/treacle. Med body at least. Flavor is smoky, med dark malt - hint of fruit. Finishes not very dry, the the smoke helps keep the malt subdued. Like it. joeneugs (6372) - Livermore, California, USA - APR 19, 2015
On draft at Hog’s Apothecary. It pours a dark mahogany color with an off white head. The aroma is roasty and fruity with light cocoa. The flavor is the same. Rich flavors of dark fruit and mild toast/roasted malt and cocoa powder. It has a great, balanced feel on the palate. Really well done. An awesome beer. savnac (2656) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - OCT 12, 2013

Tap at the brewery. Nice dark blackish pour with hints of a tanned head. Peat covered nose with other hints of dark fruits and roasted malts. Nice smooth roasty flavor flavor through with hints of cocoa and molasses. Polite, yet big, peat finish that lingers for a moment. Good one!
