Bottle, in Sacramento. Golden colour, white head. Fairly crisp and fresh aroma and flavour, with subtle hops. Refreshing. South German helles is a low key and discrete beer style, and the brewery in Nevada City has not fallen for the temptation to change that. Nice one. 22 ounce bottle purchased at Pangaea. The aroma on this has nice cracker and light cereal. A little grassy hop is also there along with some spiciness (white pepper). Glistening transparent, beautiful golden-blonde body with a medium, strong, egg-shell head. Starts with a moderately sweet honey-nut-cereal maltiness. This is balanced by some crisp, herbal and grassy moderate hop flavor later on. Mild to moderately bitter. Well-balanced, and very drinkable. Great beer. joeneugs (6372) - Livermore, California, USA - JAN 26, 2015
22 oz. bottle from Cork & Bottle in Fremont. It pours a deep golden color with a very nice off white head. The aroma is nicely balanced between sweet gains, light honey and floral/herbal hops. The flavor is very authentic with strong German malt flavor, Vienna and maybe a touch of Munich with a decent amount of floral/herbal hops in the finish. It’s definitely on the sweet/malty side, but it seems pretty close to style. Extremely clean and drinkable. I’ll have to keep my eye on these guys if they can continue making lagers this good. slowrunner77 (13403) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 25, 2014
"1st beer from this new semi-local brewery. Had from a nice metal growler. Light floral hoping with some light sweetness and yeast aroma and flavor apparent, good balance of cereal and hops. light and refreshing, carbonated just right, and a nice example of the style." bhensonb (16124) - Woodland, California, USA - AUG 2, 2014

Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark gold with a creamy white head. Aroma seems citrus. Med body, nearly. Flavor is pleasantly bready and lightly fruity/floral. Citrus. Finishes with a suggestion of bitter.
On tap at the brewhouse, an outstanding example of the Helles style. Originally brewed as an alternative to the Pilsner, this malty golden lager has a delicate hop finish. skoisirius (1908) - Earth, Washington, USA - JUL 1, 2013
Draft at the brewery. Hay yellow pour. Oranges and flower petal nose, very light. Touch of grass hop towards the finish, bits of dryness. Great hot day beer! marcus (10974) - Sacramento, California, USA - MAR 3, 2013

~light pleasant spicy hop aroma with mild bready malts.
~Pours clear golden color with small white head.
~Sweet grainy bready malt flavor with spicy noble hop.
~ Light medium bodied, high CO2, clean bready malt finish.
~Enjoyable Helles. A bit on the hoppy side for my tastes though. Zymurgeist2 (2474) - Redwood City, California, USA - SEP 25, 2012
On draft at the brewhouse in a sampler. Straw-gold with a white head that quickly dissipates. Aroma is great sweet cracker malt. Taste is malt-forward initially with a slight spicy, hop finish.
