Wow, this is the smokiest beer I ever had. It’s like Ardbeg in beer form. Looots of smoke, peat and tar in there. Halfway through the beer I notice it was 12 % ABV which really doesn’t come through at all. I would have guessed for somewhere around 6-7 %. Big body on this one, bearing all that smoke and tar. Nice, but also very special. The brewery isn’t running anymore so if you see one of these, try it, it might be the only chance you get. thewolf (12631) - Kolding, DENMARK - MAY 18, 2010

Pours dark chestnut, almost black. Small creamy, off-white film head. Powerful smoky aroma, caramel, vinious, bacon, light meat. Medium carbonation, light dry but also kinda light mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet, very malty, lots of smoke, light vinious but still manages to hide the alcohol amazingly well.
Bottle. Pours a clear brwon color with a small fast disappearing off-white head. Has a slightly roasted malty smoky aroma with some hints of licorice. Sweetish malty smoky flavor with hints of caramel and licorice. Has a slightly roasted malty smoky finish. Joakgust (1460) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - OCT 5, 2009
Bottle, 33cl - Brown amber beer with almost no head. Aroma is malty with notes of smoked malt, blue cheese, caramel, smoked ham. Flavor is malty with notes of blue cheese, smoked malt, smoked peat and honey. Very, very different beer but also very interesting. Miksu (5053) - Jyväskylä, FINLAND - OCT 4, 2009
Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival 2009. Hazy brown color. Thick smoked bacon aroma with leather, berries and glue. Sweet, malty, smoky, tarry, berryish and toffeish flavor with low bitterness. Rich smoke aroma and flavor. Slightly solventy.

Hazy red mahogany color; small creamy head. It has a nice smoke aroma, but also paper and dirty water; it doesn’t surprise me, with Ölands. It has caramel flavor, medium sweet, with some smoke, ashes, malt, paper, and very light liquorice; chaotic. It has a medium-low bitterness, with more evident liquorice in the end (disturbing), the final is rather short. It doesn’t show the alcohol content, this is maybe the most positive trait.
At such a gravity they had the opportunity to brew a great thing, it didn’t happen.

Clear amber color, no head. Strong intensive aroma of smoke, old cheese and wood. Liquerish palate. Lots of smoke, wet wood, alcohol with sweetish notes. Odd unique smoke beer, like a smoked barley wine - as such some similarities to Ungstrup’s reserva.
Bottle shared with 2 Swedish girls I met at the Falling Rock poured a clear brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of smoke, bacon, choclate and roasted malt. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of smoke, bacon, chocolate and roasted malt with a smooth lingering smokey finish. oh6gdx (26487) - Vasa, FINLAND - SEP 27, 2009

Amber colour, not much head. Aroma is smoke, alcohol, sweet wood with mild toasted notes. Flavour is alcohol, wood, mild smoke and also some toasted notes. Big smoked wet wooden aftertaste along with some mild herbal notes. Hides the ABV extremely well.
Pours without any significant foam. Dark red-brown clear ale. Good aroma of tar and smoke with some sweet caramell. The taste has lots of smoke and caramell to give a real nice blend with a litle fruits ass well. The big alcohole content is not noticable but just lifts the aromas.
