Bottled at Sorbon, Bromma, Sweden. Pours out in a hazy ruby brown colour with a small bubbly tan-coloured foam. Rich rounded aroma of tar, smoke, licorice and toasted bread. Full-bodied with strong yet well-integrated and well-rounded notes of tar, salty licorice, smoke and juniper. Long aftertaste of salmiak, smoke, dark bread and juniper. The high ABV isn’t noticeable at all. Damn good and charming! mansquito (7127) - Nueva York, New York, USA - AUG 13, 2012
Man in the Moon, Stockholm 2008 bottle: Poured brown with a massive head. Aroma is smoke, aged, dried fruits, candy. Aroma was quite excellent. I could sit around and sniff this all day. Taste is slightly sweet, really fruity, and really heavy on the malt. There is a smoky lingering aftertaste in this. It tastes kind of like a smoked barley wine, but is still very different from anything I ever had. konstifik (573) - SWEDEN - JUN 27, 2010
Wow, this is the smokiest beer I ever had. It’s like Ardbeg in beer form. Looots of smoke, peat and tar in there. Halfway through the beer I notice it was 12 % ABV which really doesn’t come through at all. I would have guessed for somewhere around 6-7 %. Big body on this one, bearing all that smoke and tar. Nice, but also very special. The brewery isn’t running anymore so if you see one of these, try it, it might be the only chance you get. sebletitje (10477) - Enghien, BELGIUM - JUL 17, 2010
Cheers to tpd975 for sharing this one. Epic tasting we had.
pours dark brown, off-white.
aroma, malty with lots of nice smoke aroma, dark fruits.
flavors, 12% wow this beer is so drinkable the smoke on this one is fantastic.
It drinks a little on the medicinal side with lingering herbal palate while the finish keeps a more dark fruits (date) approach along with malts.
This beers rocks. omhper (25949) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - MAR 26, 2009
UPDATED: MAR 27, 2009 Bottled at Man in the Moon, Stockholm. Very dark ruby, no head. Aroma of black currant and juniper smoke. Swet with rounded mouthfeel and more or less no carbonation. Evident flavour of juniper twigs, juniper smoke and juniper berries. Notes of honey. Remaining dangerously drinkable for a 12% beer. Quite lovely and mildly warming. The closest there is to commercial Gotlandsdricke. Amazed to see a beer from Öland without 1000 IBU...

(Bottle, Man in the Moon, Stockholm) Dark ruby colour with brief, beige head. Malty, fruity, smoky nose with notes of dried apricots and burning spruce twigs. Malty, fruity taste with dried fruit, raisins, blood oranges and caramel. Smoky with hints of oak wood. Superbly balanced with alcohol (12%) very well hidden. Excellent beer! A: Pours an amber brown with a small tan head Light head no retention or lace.
S: Nice smoked malts, hints of caramel, brown sugar, and toffee.
T: Nicely smoked on the verge without being over done. Meaty smoke, mild brown sugar, with hints of smoked fish.
M: Medium in body, light on the carbonation nicely smoked from start to finish. TEJA (3346) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - AUG 22, 2009
Pours without any significant foam. Dark red-brown clear ale. Good aroma of tar and smoke with some sweet caramell. The taste has lots of smoke and caramell to give a real nice blend with a litle fruits ass well. The big alcohole content is not noticable but just lifts the aromas. oh6gdx (26485) - Vasa, FINLAND - SEP 27, 2009

Amber colour, not much head. Aroma is smoke, alcohol, sweet wood with mild toasted notes. Flavour is alcohol, wood, mild smoke and also some toasted notes. Big smoked wet wooden aftertaste along with some mild herbal notes. Hides the ABV extremely well.
Bottle shared with 2 Swedish girls I met at the Falling Rock poured a clear brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of smoke, bacon, choclate and roasted malt. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of smoke, bacon, chocolate and roasted malt with a smooth lingering smokey finish.
