Black color; compact head. There is a mild aroma of roasted malt and dusty bread, but also a very nice hop tries to appear underneath. The body is not strong, it has a strong roasted malt flavor, burnt malt clearly, disturbing. I think they used some good hops, but I can’t stand the burnt wood. Draught at Bishops Arms, Malmö. Black - big offwhite head. roasted, licorice, light milkey, ashes, dryness, tobacco, grape, burned´. Nice - a bit simple. PMgep (288) - Lund, SWEDEN - DEC 19, 2008
[500 ml bottle] The aroma contains yeast and alts. The color is dark, almost black with a brownish foam. The taste is smokey with hops and a bit chokolate. Kalli (502) - Falun, SWEDEN - DEC 17, 2008
Deep malty aroma, that reminds a bit of the near-black icelandic rye bread, with a nice, strong resiny hop presence.
Heavy roasted coffe flavour, and a hint of dark chocolate, but a surprisingly thin body. Really needs to be more mouthfilling with this up front flavour and I miss both the fullness of the aroma and the unfulfilled promise of hops it gave. Furseth (2165) - Kungälv, SWEDEN - DEC 17, 2008

[BOTTLED] Pours dark -as good as black- brown with a thick, rocky head. Hoppy aroma with roasty, slightly smoked notes. Light body. Flavour is a well balanced blend of hops and rosted malt. Long bitterness. A pleasant and quaffable beer. charlotte (5425) - rødovre, DENMARK - DEC 1, 2008

Bottle, thanks ekstedt. Dark reddish brown with a tan head. Malty aroma with a fair amount of hops. Medium bitter. Medium bodied. Steely (241) - , SWEDEN - NOV 28, 2008
Pours pitch black with a creamy tan head. Light, volatile aroma of dark malt and licorice and a hint of fruit beneath a thick black covering. Dry burned flavor of heavily roasted malt, black coffee and some grapefruit bitterness shining through the ashes. Surprisingly lightbodied with a gentle carbonation. Welcome to the dark side. UPDATED: DEC 20, 2008 (Bottle 2008 and Draught 2007) Pours dark brown to black with pale brown head. Hop and ester is making sweet, sweet love on a bead of malt. The aroma holds tones of tropical fruits like pineapples, apricots and mango alongside citric notes of tangerine/sweet oranges and sweet grapefruit. There is also some room for fresh, wild strawberries. The hops are also rather spicy and “green” with hints of pine and nettle. Not too burned from the black malt and the caramel provide a light sweetness on the nose. I like the mixed smell of fruits, green hops and liquorice. Maybe some jalapeno oil. The flavour is strait forward and even more focus on black malt, liquorice, espresso, tropical fruits and green, citric/piney hops. Just a whisper of ginger is also present. Typical well hoped Öland style. Dry and medium to heavily bitter. The mouthfeel is watery but pleasant with a soft carbonation. Bone dry finish with hops, burned coffee and liquorice lingering. Light to medium bodied. Nice and interesting. Second rating, bottle 2008: Off-aroma and flavour with infected and rubbery notes.
