This is a very strong rich and malty full-bodied beer that has a nutty/chocolate flavor for complexity. This Bavarian specialty was first brewed in Munich by the monks of St. Francis of Paula. The term “doppel (double) bock” was coined by Munich consumers. Like many other versions of doppelbock, our version also has a name ending in “-ator” in tribute to the original Salvator.

A dark german dopplebock style beer. With a long lasting head and slight carmel taste. Seems to have an alcohol bite with a warming follow through.

Keg at the brewpub. Dark reddish brown, thin head, poor retention. Aroma of toffee, caramel, plum, floral hop. Taste is plum caramel, leafy, earthy hops. Medium bodied, lingering bitterness.

JPDIPSO (6293) - Wauwatosa, USA - DEC 31, 2016
Darkish umber color with a moderate, tan head. Husky/grainy scents with hints of caramel, alcohol, sour mash and light fruit. Light sweetness. More caramel than malt flavors. Needs a malt backbone. More a strong amber. 1/14

Surprisingly a good doppelbock brewed in the US. Tore Decadence 2013 a new asshole side-by-side.

Good malty flavor but flavor lacks balance. Overall good beer from this fairly young brewery. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Old Bavarian in Appleton, Wisconsin. Pour was deep brown with a light tan head. Aroma was of caramel, toasted malts, light chocolate, and sweet malty heaven. The body was a little light but the beer itself was so smooth with the flavors mixing together quite well. There was no alcohol prevalent in the taste and at 7.5%, It was a kick in the face after a few half liters. Nice brew.
