An intense coffee ground tecture and tone underpin the smoother malt and reduce my appreciation for this beer. I'm sure some of you will love it, though!
Poured into a mug, the appearance was a semi-transparent burnt amber to almost brown color with some carbonation rising to fill a finger’s worth of a foamy head. Sly lace.
The aroma had some roasted malt up front with some low key nuttiness. Caramel and toffee qualities slide in underneath with a little bit of cocoa powder. Some burnt toast.
The flavor was semi-sweet with a touch of the bitter coming trying to play nicely with the roast. Sly lingering roasty malt in the aftertaste. Quick malty finish.
The feel sat just beneath medium bodied with a decent sessionability about it. Low carbonation with a nice smoothness about it.

Opaque dark brown with a beige head and swirls of lace. Taste is roasted caramel malt with a touch of burnt toast accompanied by overtones of cocoa. Bittering, as well as slight sourness, brings things to a close. Very drinkable, but expensive, even for a 25oz bottle. Recommended, but with reservations. brown, only tiny bubbles for a head. nose of sweet malt. flavor is also sweet malt, not all that complex. medium bodied, sweet finish. way too sweet for me, but not off for the style.

On tap at Old Boys Brewhouse. Mahogany with a thin tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, buts and a touch of maple. Taste doesn’t live up to the aroma as an artificial sweetness kind of overpowers the chocolate, nuts and malt. Body is a tad over-carbonated and the finish is metallic. Draft sampler at brewpub. Poured brown color with a medium off-white head that diminished slowly and had fair lacing. Average sweet toasted aroma. Medium body with soft carbonation. On tap at OB. Deep brown body, thin cream-colored head. Slightly sweet toasty aroma with nutty notes. Flavor was rather light, toasty, with some nuttiness and dark fruit/caramels. Slightly bitter finish. Too thin-bodied.
