UPDATED: FEB 10, 2007 Draught at the brewpub. Dark brown with some red around the edges. Thin tan head with no lace. Chocolate, roasty nose and flavor. Chocolate and coffee again in the flavor with some bitterness at the end. iowaherkeye (2703) - Ocean Beach, San Diego, California, USA - MAR 11, 2006
From a growler. Pours a deep dark brown with a small, beige head. Aroma of toasty chocolatey malts. Taste was a little light on the chocolate and more coffee with some a little bitterness up front and a lingering bitterness--very slight--in the finish. Tastes kinda like their stout, though not as sweet and not as good. Not terribly impressed with this, though I may try it again at the bar and rerate this one. heemer77 (5358) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - FEB 28, 2006
One of Old Capitol’s best efforts. Poured with a black body and a light tan colored head. The aroma was chocolate with some light coffee. The taste was ligh coffee with some dark chocolate and oak dryness in the finish. An interesting and solid bock. Glad to see Old Cap going away from the extremely sweet bocks.
