Very rich roast grain, choco hints, and a touch sweet, but very English. Super rich body. A great toast and nice husky bitterness. Excellent fullsome porter.
Bottle from brewery. Colour is opaque black, off white head. Nose is good. Dark chocolate, ale fruity, touch black coffee, but mainly dark choc. Touch of lactic, bit of ink, but again mainly dark choc! Taste is inky, dark chocolate, dark fruit, prune, touch of bitter hop/roasted malt. Body is fairly light for a porter. allmyvinyl (10613) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JUL 4, 2014

Pours deep brown with a small, staying, creamy, light-beige head. Aroma is mildly roasted, clear oat, liqourice, touch of chocolate. Medium to low carbonation, fine dry and light oily mouthfeel. Flavour has lots of English liqourice, light spicy rye, some darkish chocolate, mildly roasted. Well-balanced porter with some liqourice and herbal dryness in the finish.
Black with a creamy brown bubbly head. Boozy chocolate malt taste, roasty with a bit of rye. A lovely beer with plenty of body. planky84 (3259) - Lee, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 19, 2015
