2016 catch up - Another "English" IPA. It was very good, with quite an overpowering bitterness that I actually liked. It’s not the most accessible of beers, but I did like it a lot.

Bottle from the brewery. Clear amber with a white head. Good, fresh aroma of malt and hops and a taste which has sweet malts and a heavily bitter hop flavour. Quite fruity with notes of oranges and herbs, but the bitterness is brutal, making this beer difficult to enjoy. Not an easy-drinking pint. It needs less astringency to make this beer a litte more approachable. BlackHaddock (7235) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - DEC 11, 2015
500ml bottle from the brewery, poured into a UK pint sleeve at home on 11th Dec 2015, some 5 months before it’s BBD. No sediment left the bottle, so I got a lovely clear amber bodied beer with a full white foam blanket on top. Perfumed, floral nose, interesting aroma all round. The taste has a semi-sweet malt front with a deep hop based depth that takes over mid-sip. Complex and different, a beer to sip, not to rush or gulp. Very, very pleasant in deed. Bottle from the brewery. Pours golden with a frothy white head. Slightly floral citrus aroma. the taste is spicy and bitter. Some citrus, but this is a bit short on hop flavours really.
GlasgowTAD (1768) - Glasgow, SCOTLAND - APR 24, 2015
Pours orange-yellow with a large white head which lingers around. Aroma is floral and sweet orange candy. Taste is weak caramel, biscuity, slight orange and highly bitter. Stuu666 (13123) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - FEB 26, 2015
Bottle at Craig’s. Pours golden amber, nose is floral, orange, taste is similar, biscuity. planky84 (3215) - Lee, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 19, 2015
Bottle from Eebria. Bloody hell I must of wrote this in a hurry... I think my near unintelligible scrawl says ’chestnut’ coloured pour, white head (it actually looks like ’chaste nun, what I said’) Aromas of toffee (toirse), caramel (that was an easier one to read) and citrus? (cars). Flavours of sweet citrus (looks like svelte chorus), caramel and some red fruit (rod fruc). Quite dry. Nice. Blimey! That was like transcribing Sanskrit! MrTipple (4803) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 1, 2015
Aroma: tropical fruits, peaches, light straw, grain, intense floral hops. Appearance: slightly hazy, medium, creamy, white head. Taste: medium bitter. Palate: light carbonation, grains again, light bitters continuing, floral hops, dry finish. Overall: nice IPA / ESA excellent aroma, average palate. Bottle from the brewery via EeBria, Weston Market.
