Bottle @ TFODRBSG, Ulfborg, 2008.
[thank you, Brugsmansia/fonefan]
Pours deep red-brown with almost no head. Aroma has some nuts, light caramel and a slight vinious port note. Oily mouthfeel with a fine, low carbonation. Wonderful flavours abound. Vinious, port, sticky caramel, toffee, light smokiness. Really great, tasted of more and I would kill to taste this on cask.

Bottle, 8.7%. Weak malt syrup aroma. Clear chestnut colour, very small tan head. The flavour is quite sweet with distinct notes of malt syrup. OK balanced by the alcohol. Good alcohol burn in the finish.

Thanks to Craig for the bottle, BB 2/1/09! Poured coppery iced tea brown with about zero head sticking around. The aroma picked up toasty toffee and caramel primarily with lesser dark fruit notes and just a little deeper-rooted alcohol coming through. The flavor was a bit on the sharp side with astringent boozy notes over dry-roasted caramel and toffee.. sharper finish with plums and toffee. Medium-bodied with no carbonation on the palate.. drier and toasty.. just a touch rough.

Bottled. Rubyish amber colour, small white head. Aroma is raisins, sweet malts and some caramel. Flavour is caramel, plum, mild licorice, alcohol, sweet malts and also quite much tropical fruits. Finish has some slight notes of roasted or mildly smoked notes.

Botlle, from the brewery, by way of Fin. Thanks! Deep brown, small layer of viscous tan head. Brandy soaked Christmas pud, leather, apples, sherry, walnuts. Lots of funk, a little cluttered. Fine textured treacle, earthy tannic notes, over-ripe apples, banana, just a touch of alcohol heat. Lots of nice things here, but still young and green. I expect great things for this, but it wants a year or three.

Bottle that was brought over in a case along with our beer order for Merton Beer Festival, thanks to Marc Bartram Poured a reddy colour with a light beige head. The aroma as Loz pointed out, had more than a nod to a Terrys chocolate orange, but along with this there were some soft molassess. This was a well crafted beer, smooth, easy drinking, alcohol well hidden, very nice. There was no chocolate in here but whilst on a confectionary ramble I did get a very brief hint of curly wurly bar. This was a barley wine, I’m sure of it, but hey call it what you will. A soft and warming beer that was as welcoming as some well worn slippers, great.
